The bao was interesting. For a place called bao, I felt the actual bao bread was disappointing. It was more like sliders and was more bread-textured than steamed bun. Overall I thought it was nice but have had better bao buns.

Really good. My family got the wagyu bao, shrimp bao, and pork belly bao. All were fabulous. We also got the shrimp curry fries and Tom Ka pork belly both of which were amazing. Very, very glad we went here and will be back.

Small half step at entrance.

Great location with a dim lit atmosphere. Food was outstanding and the BAO is delicious and worth returning to this location to get. The Caviar fish BAO was light and flavorful, the soft shell crab was delicious and unique, and the Bangkok chicken was a remarkable recommendation and ended up being my favorite. The buns were light and filling at the same time, and their soups were hardy and loaded. Our service was awesome despite how busy the location was.
Reservation is recommended!

I went here recently with a group of friends for dinner and the food is top notch! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about menu items. The fries are a must try and we have five different bao and it was hard to pick a favorite. You can’t go wrong with anything here. Parking is a bit difficult as it’s limited street parking. The ambiance here is attractive; tables are small and candle lit, with a cozy vibe. It’s definitely the perfect date night spot!

I’ve been a fan of The BAO for several years. Fries are hot & delicious with the BAO sauce. *Chefs kiss* My favorite is the fried chicken BAO & the Thai bubble tea! I just tried the yuzu BLT for the first time this evening. Holy smokes, it’s AMAZING! The BAO truly never disappoints no matter what dish you get & the chef knows what’s up. I didn’t know what yuzu was until I just looked it up. Such an interesting yet delicious combo for such a classic!! Can’t wait to come back for more. Thanks for always satisfying my cravings.

Met up with two friends for a lovely meal here this evening. Reservations are definitely recommended as we were asked to wait until our seating time but after that, we were seated and drink orders taken.

It's fusion but you won't want to miss the bao. I started with the seaweed salad (gotta have some greens!) and then right into the dinner. My friends chose the bao combo which comes with fries. I stuck right to the bao core, choosing the Fried Chicken bao and the Bangkok Chicken bao. Both were excellent - perfect bao texture, crispy chicken, lots of spicy flavor.

Service was attentive. The restaurant is quite dark inside, likely on purpose to make it all fancy. Okay, but I'm still going to need the flashlight on my phone to read the menu.

Vegetarian options: Several delicious looking tofu bao on the menu.

Dietary restrictions: Ask about allergens.

Parking: Metered street parking in Clayton. Read the signs for enforcement times.

Kid-friendliness: There were some kids running about. Not much for them to do.

Wheelchair accessibility: Step free access.

The food was spectacular! everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. our favorites were the soft shell crab bao and the bangkok chicken bao.

I had the “I don’t f with yuzu” and it was deliciously refreshing. the bartender, who unfortunately I didn’t get the name of, was incredibly cordial and helped make our dining experience fantastic.

the interior is warm and romantic, which is why we will be back for our date nights in the future.

We ordered couples baos, and they were good. I had the Yaki Chicken as my main dish. The noodles could have had a bit more flavor, but overall, it was good. However, I gave 4 stars because of a confusing experience at the end when we were paying the bill. We paid, but then the waitress returned with a second bill, saying it had been separated. It was unclear why, and the second bill didn’t show the details. My husband thought the bill was right, so we paid it. ?‍♀️

Good food and a variety of options for a smaller sized restaurant. I got the spicy bacon bao (10/10) and the pork belly bao (5/10). The pork belly bao just wasn't my style. The fries were good and the service was good. It's a little more upscale so I wouldn't show up in sweatpants or joggers. The bao are sandwiches and not stuffed bao seen in other places.

Mysterious entrance felt like a speakeasy, but added to the dramatic date-night atmosphere. The food was not quite ready when promised, but it was tasty. Loved the salad with chicken, the coconut milk soup, and the dumplings. Caution: $2 upcharge to add some delicious shrimp to the soup netted me one single shrimp. I definitely wanted more!
