I've lived in St. Louis for a little over 20 years and I've heard about the Capital Grill but never visited before. I decided for my birthday this year, we'd try it. I even offered to split the cost with my wife since I had heard it was expensive. Well, it was expensive, but sometimes you absolutely get what you pay for - I was blown away. We started with a giant piece of bacon as an appetizer (Nueske's Cherrywood Smoked Bacon with Korean BBQ). It was about 1/2 in thick cut into bite sized chunks and it was delicious! We moved on to soup, my wife had the french onion soup with was covered with a thick layer of cheese, I had the lobster bisque, and my daughter had the butternut squash bisque - all three were good. The lobster in my bisque was tender and flavorful. I had the 14oz KC strip, my daughter had the 10oz filet, and my wife had the roasted chicken breast. My daughter's filet was easily 12oz and it was cooked perfectly, my KC strip was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, and my wife's chicken was huge (and delicious since I ate her leftovers the next day for lunch). We ordered creamed spinach and parmesan truffle fries for the table. The sides were good but not as good as the other items. Next time (and we will be back) we will probably go with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. We split the cream brulee and the flourless chocolate espresso cake for desert and because it was my birthday they brought me a sample of the cheesecake and coconut cream pie on a plate with Happy Birthday written out in icing. I'll definitely get the cream brulee again, it was perfect and my wife and daughter loved the cake. Sometimes you just gotta splurge and when you get that urge - try the Capital Grill, you won't regret it. (And by the way, my wife ended up picking up the check - so maybe it was that expensive.)
They are great at celebrating special occasions! It was a fun night out to celebrate my husband's birthday!
It's my go to place. Staff is attentive and very user friendly Management. Tim and Natalie are the best
Stopped in for a work dinner with a party of 6. The food was good and enjoyed by everyone. The sides, salads, steaks and drinks.
Capital Grille is a favorite of ours. The service is unmatched and the food reliably delicious. Also, the best cheesecake in town!
Our server and food was superb. The restaurant went out of their way to help us celebrate a special event. This is my go to restaurant when I want a guaranteed wonderful experience.
Capital Grille was an amazing experience and I really appreciated the warm staff and attention to detail
The Capital Grill in Clayton was outstanding. The ladies at the front desk greeted us warmly and say us right away and wished us a happy anniversary. The young man that Brough out our waters and bread was friendly and also wished us a happy anniversary. Our waiter was dinner friendly and brought us champagne, and also wished us a happy anniversary. The manager came by to check on us during the meal and sent drinks out to us. The meal was incredible and was highlighted by my wagyu filet. I've never had a better steak in my life. At the end of a marvelous dinner the waiter brought out some complimentary dessert. I am a big believer that it's the little things that make an experience become great over just good. The Capital Grill has great food and excellent service, but on top of that they do all the little things right. It's something that you remember and tell others. We would highly recommend.
My only complaint is that bill includes a suggested tip on the gross amount including tax why tip on tax
We have been there many times, Mike our server is always amazing. My Lamb chops were a little dry this time and over cooked, but the flavor was still good as well were the sides.

Excellent meals, excellent service. One of the best restaraunts in town. Great for romantic dinner and business meeting.
Dinner in the lounge, Josh took care of us. Wonderful fun ambiance and service. Food was perfect. Whiskey on the rocks, maybe a bit expensive. Love our Clayton MO Capital Grill.
The lobster salad is fantastic. Husband's medium steak was more well done than medium but he said it was still good. A great place for a nice lunch.
The steaks are good could use seasoning
