Had such an enjoyable experience here tonight at 44 Canteen. Our server was super attentive (we forgot her name but she had beautiful tattoos on her right arm) and made sure we liked our food. My friend and I are from out of town and it was our first time in Columbia. The burgers were phenomenal. I had the Korean Burger and it was tasty and fresh, highly recommended! The shrimp tacos are tender and made to order. Cannot wait to come back again.

Fantastic food. I got the B.O.M B. And it was great. We come up from Jeff City because there are no good restaurants in Jeff City.

Wow. Outstanding fresh, made to order, tacos. Very impressed with the quality of the food. They have various signature tacos. The chorizo tacos were delicious. The chips and salsa and queso was tasty! Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The back area had a nice bar that Rich explained had 12 beers on tap and a strong selection of bourbon and whiskeys. The service was excellent as Marita was friendly and knowledgeable on all the menu items. The Canteen Cheeseburger were two smashburgers with a secret mayonnaise based sauce - so good! Another great taco was the Valentina Fried-Chicken taco with a garlic buttermilk sauce. The chicken strip was topped with pickled jalapenos and pickled red onions. Wow, what a wonderful flavor. Compliments to Sean the cook. There is a small outside seating area. This place is in the heart of downtown Columbia (The District). I finished the meal with a warm brownie and ice cream drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauces. Highly recommend 44 Canteen.

Our server was attentive and the food was good, but the open kitchen completely ruined the experience. One of the cooks was literally vaping while preparing food and I couldn’t help but notice that he didn’t wash his hands after handling his phone. The kitchen staff spoke loudly and kept making inappropriate comment which diminished what could have been an enjoyable meal.

One of favorite downtown restaurants! The quality of the food never disappoints, and the Effen Sunrise is one of Columbia's best cocktails. Great for a casual lunch or a special dinner.

I heard lots of good things about this place and finally had an opportunity to check it out. Holy moly, their tacos are to die for. I had two different kinds, the Philly IPA steak and the walking steak tacos; both were amazing and I was full after one of each. Then I had their Irish cream bread pudding and it left me speechless. Prices were reasonable and service was great, though it did get very busy while I was there and they were a little understaffed. I will absolutely be returning to try out more of their unusual tacos. A+!!!

Went in for dinner. Place was empty. Waited to be seated & folks looked at us and just did nothing. We left. Restaurants in Columbia cannot afford to just ignore customers.

My recent visit to 44 Canteen was a delightful experience, particularly for those with a taste for unique and flavorful fusions. I ordered the Korean BBQ Burger, a dish that masterfully blends the smoky, savory flavors of Korean barbecue with the comforting familiarity of a classic American burger. The patty was juicy and perfectly cooked, but what truly elevated the dish was the Korean mayonnaise. Its creamy texture and subtle, tangy notes complemented the rich meat and sweet BBQ sauce, creating a harmonious and memorable flavor profile.
While the main course was a resounding success, I found the fries to be a slight disappointment. They were a bit greasy and lacked the crispy texture I was hoping for. Despite this, the quality of the burger more than made up for it.
The exceptional service also deserves a special mention. From the moment I walked in, the staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided prompt service without being intrusive.
Overall, 44 Canteen is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to try a creative twist on a classic. While the fries could use some improvement, the Korean BBQ Burger and the excellent service make this restaurant well worth a visit.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go to as a vegetarian. They completely removed their bean patty/veggie burger, which was the only vegetarian entree option. This place was actually so so delicious, so it makes me really disappointed that I literally can’t come back anymore. You lost SO MANY of customers. There are so many vegetarians in downtown como!!! PLEASE bring back the bean patty!!!!! :(

The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was seasoned really nicely and delicious. Got the special tacos that day, they were good as well. Service quick. Will come back for the chicken sandwich and fries and to try the shrimp tacos.

A definite pleasant surprise. From the staff to the food. I was impressed. I loved the pickled jalapenos so much that I bought a large container to take home. Our server was top shelf.
