Food had been sitting on steam tables and warmers for far too long. Portion size was well below what's expected. Meat is bland and under seasoned. Mac and cheese is Velveeta with a baked crust and potato salad is blended like mashed potatoes. Prices are 15-20% higher at the register than they are on the menu board and then don't mention it at all. Should have known it was going to be bad when their sweet tea was awful. Don't believe the hype people in this city don't know good BBQ or soul food.

Paid $41.02 for full slab of ribs 3 sides and cornbread. The sides are very tiny got an extra mac n cheese. Got home and did a count 10 ribs in the box. Never again. I won’t ever be back. Just on the principal of shorting me. Be more attentive even if you feel like you’re running low on things. Standard for a rack is 12-14 ribs. For my family 12 would have been fine not 10.

Expected better for all the hype. I had a rib dinner with Mac and cheese and baked beans. Ribs were heavily rubbed and heavily smoked. They were a little tougher than I prefer and the rub added a gritty texture that I did not like. Beans were good. Mac n cheese was ok -- it had a lot of "velveeta" cheese in it. My wife had pulled pork that was very good and baked beans and potato salad. The potato salad was not good. No salt and was the consistency of mashed potatoes. The bright spot here is the sauce. It really saved my meal. They do sell it by the jar so maybe start there.

Went to try it out with my wife. The food was okay, needed to be more smokey. But warning to others, they have higher prices then what's on the menu and you don't know until AFTER you get to the register. Pretty frustrating! To anyone who goes next, make sure to ask the price BEFORE you order. I wasn't happy.

First time here…. great service ,food is unbelievable ,very clean n smells amazing I had the fried bologna sandwich The fried fish n Mac n chz everything homemade with love for sure ❣️5stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wanted burnt ends, don't have those, got brisket instead, looked like lunch meet I'd get at Arby's, very thinly cut, too dry with little flavor, mac&chz was ok, baked beans ok. Please note that my scale has Q39 in KC at the top, or City Butcher in Springfield. The best baked beans I've ever had were in St. Louis.....not a hater - but I did have high hopes walking in.

I got the brisket and the rib tips. Both were dry and lacked seasoning. I also got the fries, fried okra, mac & cheese, baked beans, candy yams. The okra was fine. The fries had no seasoning and had a weird texture. The mac & cheese tasted like nothing and had a weird slime on it, and then I got cornbread, which was good, but they also didn’t give me my double chocolate pie that I paid for and there is a bunch of fat on the bottom of the plate that was like slime.

This is THE SPOT. The brisket, the ribs, the baked beans, corn bread… everything was way too good for this spot to be this low key. The meat was tender and the barbecue sauce was awesome. Great serving size for the value. The owner is awesome and very friendly former NFL player too. The staff is awesome too, very energetic and kind demeanor. The place has good vibes overall, some Marvin Gaye and Eryka Badu playing in the back while you’re eating. I will be coming back, real soul in this place and you definitely taste it.

The portions sizes for the food items are nice. The food has always been fresh and hot. This was my first time getting some of their greens because they actually cooked them without pork!!☺️
The cakes are always moist and delicious. ?

Best BBQ Anywhere– Big Daddy’s is Unbeatable!
If you're in Columbia, Missouri, and craving barbecue, look no further than Big Daddy's BBQ. Hands down, this is the best barbecue I have ever had, and I’ve tried BBQ from all over. The moment you walk up to Big Daddy’s, the smell of smoky, perfectly seasoned meat lets you know you’re in for a treat.
The menu is packed with BBQ classics, but every dish feels like it’s made with extra care. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, with just the right amount of char and a smoky flavor that lingers in the best way. The brisket is equally phenomenal—juicy, with a perfect bark on the outside and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. And let’s talk about the pulled pork—it’s packed with flavor and pairs perfectly with their house-made sauces.
The sides at Big Daddy’s are no afterthought either. My favorite are the collards. Melt in your mouth goodness just like I ate growing up in Chicago! The mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, and the baked beans are sweet and tangy with just the right kick. Their coleslaw is fresh and crunchy, adding the perfect balance to the richness of the barbecue.
But what makes Big Daddy's even more special is the genuine hospitality. The staff is friendly and they treat you like an old friend, making sure you have everything you need for a top-notch meal.
If you’re in Columbia and haven’t tried Big Daddy’s BBQ yet, do yourself a favor and go. It’s the kind of BBQ that you’ll be dreaming about long after the last bite!
I'm always so busy eating that I forget to take pictures!!

The friendliest staff and barbeque worth driving a couple hundred miles. They just don't make it that good where I'm from. Had the ribs and wings and any place that can make wings so good they compete with ribs, is a badass place to eat.
