After 24 amazing years of serving BBQ here in Columbia, Buckingham Smokehouse is officially sold! We're excited to announce that Como Smoke and Fire has purchased the property for their second location expansion. From owner Mark Brown, family and staff we can't thank our incredible community of customers and friends enough for supporting us so well over all these years! APRIL 16, 2022 will be the last day Buckinghams is open for business. Now is the time to order your regular sandwich special, 1/2 slab dinner, pint of beans or pit salad for the last time! We're so fortunate to have seen some of the same faces regularly for over two decades; thank you so much and we hope to see you again for a last visit. We hope that we've created a great experience for you throughout these years with lasting memories because you've certainly fulfilled that for us. Redeem your gift cards and stop to say goodbye

Ok. So I love BBQ. I have gone to some iconic places known for BBQ in Kansas City. Including the likes of Joe's BBQ, Jack Stacks, Arthur Bryant's, and Q39. I have also eaten at some lesser know but well regarded BBQ places in Jefferson City like Sweet Smoke and Lutz's. Suffice it to say I was eager to try something different so my girlfriend and I went to Buckinghams. The decor was nice with lots of large natural wood booths. The staff was very friendly and the smell of Barbecued pork lingered in the air upon entering. The whole thing presented a kind of mouthwatering setup for our hungry pallette's. I felt we were in for the special BBQ treat. We ordered the BBQ Nachos to start. I would describe the Nachos as pulled BBQ with baked beans, jalapeños and what I think was queso cheese. The BBQ was sweet and when combined with the sweet baked beans and starchy nacho chips it left and overall underwhelming flavor that needed to be balanced out with a spice or something tangy. Luckily the jalapeños and the home made salsa?? And( Whatever it was it was a flavorful higlight) provided the needed punch. For the main course I ordered the 1/2 stack of Baby Back Ribs, with sweet potato fries and baked beans. My girlfriend ordered the BBQ salad (a risky choice but she went for it anyway because of a previous experience). My order came with a roll and pickles. Upon receiving the food we sampled it with the two sauces provided on the table "mild" and "spicy". The ribs had the similar sweet taste that the Nachos had but I'm sad to say that they lacked real flavor and they were served warm. Pouring the two sauces on them didn't help elevate the flavor. I was disappointed but my partner liked them. The roll and pickles were sn unnecessary add-on in my opinion. She poured mild sauce and what I think was the house dressing on her salad. She said it was good, but I've seen her go in on a salad and usually there is nothing left. This time 1/2 of it was still on the plate. No doggy bags. For a place whose marquee dish is its BBQ I find it to regrettably not be up to par.

First off, this is the first time writing a review. After going to this place I felt compelled to let everyone know the truth. We ordered the brisket sandwich, and a combo plate with pulled pork and brisket. This was the WORST prepared smoked anything I ever had the misfortune of putting in my mouth. The brisket tasted like it was made in the oven last week and just reheated today. Had absolutely no flavor but old meat. The pulled pork was just as bad as the brisket. After a bite of each, there was no way either of us was going to eat anymore of it. The sides tasted like it was prepackaged from a grocery store. There was a smoking pit out back, but I’m thinking that was just a lure to make people think it’s actual pit smoked BBQ. I wouldn’t waste your time or money going to this place. One star review is way to much of a compliment to give this place.

Had a nice lunch. Staff was friendly. Meat could have used a little more flavor.

I'm a bit puzzled by all the positive reviews. The atmosphere and service were perfectly fine, but the BBQ itself was incredibly disappointing. We had the brisket and the pork, and while neither were terrible, they didn't didn't have much smoky flavor at all. The brisket was thin and didn't have any crust to speak of. The spicy sauce was spicy, but the flavor was pretty bad. The Mac n cheese was good but nothing special, the green beans were actually pretty good, and the roll was also really good. But I get BBQ for the BBQ, and in this case, it falls far short of what I expect from a restaurant with such glowing reviews.

Service was excellent. Pit beans were a delicious side dish, brisket and turkey pretty good, and plenty of local bbq sauce options plus their own sauce for sale. Would definitely eat here again if back in Columbia.

Had a nice visit here. Had done carryout but this was the first time I have eaten at the location. Good brisket sandwich and sides. Excellent service. Nothing to rave about but had a nice meal here.

Owner was rude. If you can’t be a friendly delivery person, get someone else to do it, or stop offering the service.

Never had a bad experience! Food is delicious with generous helpings and servers go beyond to see you are satisfied. I am already looking for the nearest Buckingham to my new address!

Holy Cow, this place has some amazing BBQ!!!! The smokey goodness and aroma entice you as you drive up. We were so entranced by the smokey aroma, I didn't have a chance to photograph the food because we dove right in.

The drive-thru is always smooth sailing with Karsten in charge! Quick service and my order is always done right! She goes above and beyond "service with a smile"! She waves hello and goodbye and even remembers my name! Makes for The Best and Most Fun drive-thru experience ever! Karsten, with a little help from the great food, have made me proud to be a Buckingham's regular!

First time in for me to celebrate a birthday with peeps I know and love. We were a party of five although I was 15 minutes late so was not there during the seating process which was outside on the patio (we were there for lunch so it was warm and bright). On the way to and from the restroom I found the interior dark with bar seating and a few booths. Likely packed and rocking on weekend nights. Our waitress was Carmen whom was impressive all around - personable, engaging, helpful and expedient. We all decided on the Sloppy Buck with sides ranging from beans (delish if a tad too sweet for me - your mileage may vary) to coleslaw to fries. Thanks to Carmen's suggestion I opted for the house-made chips and they were the best I've ever had - SO good I ordered a large serving as dessert for the table to share. There are numerous sides available. THANKS CARMEN! The sandwich was good but I thought the burnt ends were on the dry side. Plan on using the mild or spicy sauce on these bad boys. Overall this was a good meal and if you're in the area with an appetite you'll want to stop. Especially if Carmen's working.
