The excellent service doesn't make up for the generic American-Mexican food coming out of the kitchen. The cooks may know what they're doing, but the owners are holding them back to serve the gentrified yuppies who live in the area. You know exactly what you're getting, and if that's what you want the 3 chimi platter is waiting for you.

I am not a foodie, so they may have more informed opinions. The restaurant has relocated from borderline shabby southeast Columbia conveniently near U.S. Highway 63 and Nifong/AC to the leading edge of the southwest sprawl, still on AC. That building is a new mini-shopping plaza behind a gas station and slightly concealed from the road. Parking is convenient and plentiful. The reserved table was available when we arrived. The food was as good as any of the other 4 or 5 Mexican restaurants around Columbia, MO that I have tried. The menu had a lot of items. Whether it had a variety is a question best left to an expert. The descriptions were often indistinguishable to me. The service was fast but the servers changed shift between order and delivery. Estimates are that two of the 8 in our party did not get what they ordered but just accepted the situation due to the language difficulty in communication. There was little interaction with the servers during the meal. Associating the bills with the customers did not go quickly. If my bill was for what I ordered then the price was a dollar more than indicated on the menu. At this point not worth disputing. The one special "no dairy" order was correctly made and delivered and appreciated. Some servings were generous enough to require take-out bags.Dietary restrictions: Dairy-free request honored.Parking: Seemed like plenty.Kid-friendliness: Saw family groups

7 of five ? for this place! The food was some of the best authentic Mexican food I've had. Service here is super fast and friendly. Our waitress even the shift lead we're making drink and chips and salsa refills. The portion size was amazing as well. Same price for plates at places but here at Jose's the serving sizes were dang near double. I'm a chimnichango fan. There base plate came with two chimmis is! Both could be the same meat or a choice from 3 meats. Good job Staff and owners. Bravo bravo. Your nailing it!

Went for lunch today and definitely the manager was gone for the day so the staff had time to play. The staff were yelling across the store at something that they found most entertaining. The noise level was unbearable we asked for them to hold down the noise level which they seemed to think was extremely funny but they broke up the cluster and went back to various areas of the restaurant the final straw was when one of them threw a load of dishes in the bus tub which caused another round of whoops by the staff. We gave up and went to another restaurant Ps the food is pretty mediocre from past experience Find another place to eat

Food is pretty tasty and servings are large. The chile relleno was tasty, the street tacos were not as flavorful as some I have had and the meat was dry, and the enchiladas were covered in a yummy sauce. The service is quick and the waiters have all been attentive. It is a little pricy, but there was great happy hour and daily deals.

Was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. It was very clean and staff was friendly. My food came out quickly and it was fresh and hot. I didn't have to ask for extra napkins. I would go
We've been here many times and have had consistently tasty meals and fast, efficient, pleasant service. The staff seems to be Spanish speakers with adds to the atmosphere. I usually get the fajitas--and have enough to take home.

Steak fajitas were inedible. Meat so tough could not cut with knife or chew. Tasted very strong and poor quality meat. I will not suffer again with such poor quality meat. Seat in booth cracked with the stuffing showed through. Drove clear from Fayette and will not be back. Cost for wife and me approximated $50.00 with tip. Very frustrating and disappointing.
