Jeez, I loved this place SO MUCH when I went to college in Columbia and I miss it so much! The space is clean and cozy all year long and the coffee is to die for. I love you, Shortwave!
Shortwave Coffee in Alley A is an absolute gem! It looks small from the outside, but it's surprisingly spacious inside. The warm wood theme throughout creates a unique and cozy ambiance. With plenty of seating, it's the perfect place to get some work done. The in-house roaster is phenomenal. I had an Ethiopian pour-over that was out of this world. I've been to the larger 9th Street location, which is also fantastic, but there's something special about this...
This is by far one of my favorite coffee shops in Columbia. The coffee and food are consistently good and their cold brew is better than any other coffee shops in my opinion. The atmosphere is very laid back and a great place to get work done. There is a little background noise from peoples conversations and soft music playing. There is plenty of seating and it is located right downtown so I can easily walk there and back. Staff is very friendly and does their job.
