If I could give it negative stars, I would. Food wasn’t good, general tso chicken and sesame chicken were literally the same thing but one had sesame seeds on it and it had a funky taste. But the service was HORRIBLE. Woman who seated us didn’t ask what we wanted to drink, said “what do you want” when she tossed a menu at us, and when it came down to choosing options of sides, she just walked off and we had to call her back to tell her which ones we were going to choose. Then she wouldn’t say anything when we were checking out, just slapped down the receipt on the counter. Seriously one of the worst experiences dining in somewhere.

Lowkey some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I ordered beef fried rice with chicken wings (my go to for Chinese) and it was terrible. Rice was bland, beef was rubbery and you could tell the chicken wings are old and have been sitting around for sometime. I could barely even eat it to be honest. Definitely 1 star review worthy. How could you even serve this?

Good food but consistently poor and discriminatory service. We tried to sit down tonight to eat and one person was telling us it was fine while the female owner was very rude to us and would not let us be sat. Shaking her head to have us seated. this is not the first time this has happened with the female owner. we have been overcharged for our food, charged for things others are not charged for, and we have consistently had her be rude to us. the poor service is something that no longer can be made up for by the food, it is CONSISTENT and we are not the only family of color this happens to. If you want great service AND good food, there are other options in town.

This is by far the best experience I’ve had at a Chinese restaurant, and specifically one that serves true Szechuan cuisine. We came in not knowing exactly what to expect, but what we were treated to was something far beyond just a good meal. It was an experience—one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
We were welcomed in with genuine kindness and seated almost immediately. The servers were attentive, but more than that, they felt like they actually cared whether or not we enjoyed our food. The drinks came quickly, and not long after that, the table was filled with dishes that looked, smelled, and tasted like they came from a chef who really knew what they were doing.
The moment I bit into the Chongqing Chicken—crispy, spiced, and dancing with that signature Szechuan tingle—I felt like I had been transported somewhere far away. The Dan Dan Noodles were packed with flavor and had this nutty, spicy richness that wrapped around my tongue in the best way. I don’t think I’ve ever had tofu as tender and flavorful as the Mapo Tofu here, and the fish in chili oil was something else entirely—so soft it melted the moment it touched my mouth, surrounded by a spicy broth that made me close my eyes for a second just to take it all in.
I was reminded of the power of food to carry memory and culture—how something cooked right can make you feel things you didn’t know were still somewhere inside you. I would highly recommend you come to this place to feel what I felt at that table. It’s not just a restaurant. It’s a taste of a different world—one that stays with you long after the meal is done.

We have come here for a couple years now. The food has always been excellent except for one time. The service, however, has always been horrible. The main waitress there which there is usually only the one is very angry to be there and is the most unfriendly person in any establishment I've ever been in. As much as I love the food there, I think I need to find another place as I have tried very hard to be friendly toward the waitress with with her randomly being a little nicer. But generally she is very very unfriendly and as the guy said earlier she acts like she hates me.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Take out was quick and pick up was easy. Flavor and quality is great all around. The hot and sour soup is the best I’ve had in Columbia. Looking forward to coming back and bringing friends too.

Our server was EXTREMELY RUDE when we ordered jasmine tea and the "meat dumplings" which were really steamed pot stickers/gyoza (pot stickers were listed on the menu along with meat dumplings) from the minute we walked in to the minute we left, the server treated my mother and I like we were dogs. While ordering, she was very snappy when I asked what kind of hot tea was available. And then after ordering jasmine tea and steamed pot stickers or (meat dumplings) very loudly she said "IS THAT ALL?!" Originally we just wanted tea, but I was wanting to try their "meat dumplings" in hopes that it was xio long bao. I replied "yes, do you have a problem with that?" She aggressively snatched up our menus and stormed away. Then brought our tea and food served with the same attitude. Soon after brought the check. I guess she was ready for us to leave. When I walked to the register to pay I said "hello" and she ignored me. She was watching live streams on her phone. She rang me up, with the ugliest look on her face. No eye contact, no thank you for coming in. I will NEVER come eat here being treated that way. TASTE PLACE over by the mall is WAY BETTER than this place. Their hot pots are more authentic and they have an amazing staff that welcome your business and treat you like a human!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the state.
I said what I said, and it’s a FACT.
I was so disappointed when the place closed a couple years ago because of Covid, back when it was across the street from the Blue Note. The food is AMAZING. They have Americanized Chinese food, which is pretty good, but they also have authentic Szechuan food, which is INCREADIBLE. Try the Three Pepper Lamb, or the Cumin Beef. Szechuan food always makes me wonder why people ever started making sweet and sour chicken and… Real Chinese food is incredible!

Ordered a Doubled Cooked Pork which is probably the most terrible one I’ve ever tasted. Their restaurant should never not be named after Sezchuan.

Food was great, server forgot an appetizer, told my daughter "no" when she asked for a Sprite instead of the sweet tea since she didn't like the tea. I had to go ask for the app and order her sprite at the counter. Server slammed the food on the table when she brought it. Never checked on the table again after the orders were taken. I had to go to counter to ask for a refill.

We grabbed a quick lunch today between errands. Located downtown yet they have their own small parking lot which is nice. Getting in and out can be a little challenge depending on the time of day.
The food has always been great here. They have Americanized and authentic Chinese food here so most people will be able to find something they like.
The restaurant itself is small and the building is older. However these minor inconveniences are overshadowed by the quality and taste of the food.

Szechuan House is hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of authentic Szechuan spices.
The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish we tried was packed with bold, fresh flavors and cooked to perfection. The Spicy crispy chicken was the standout for me—perfectly tender, with just the right kick of heat that left me craving more. Sesame Chicken was a delightful mix of savory, , and sweet, and the potstickers were so fresh and juicy, they practically melted in my mouth.
The staff were just as wonderful as the food. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations to suit our tastes. They ensured our glasses were never empty and that every part of our meal was perfect.
Szechuan House is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’re craving a fiery dish or something more mild, this place delivers authentic Chinese cuisine that will leave you coming back for more. A 5-star experience through and through!
