My husband surprised me at Christmas with tickets to the January Farmhouse Dinner event. The whole experience was outstanding. We really enjoyed each course, and they somehow created the perfect pairing with a wine that elevated each dish.
The first course might have been my favorite, but only because a warm hearty soup is so comforting on a cold winter’s night. It was accompanied by a homemade biscuit, which was delicious.
The fourth course was another favorite, because the chef managed to cut the prime rib into thin slices and I’ve never had it that way before. The sauce and the mashed potatoes were divine.
As expected, the portions were right sized for a 5-course meal, and the wine pours were just right as well. I was impressed by their wine selections and I truly enjoyed everything we tasted.
The chef came out when each course was served to give us a bit of background about how it was prepared.
The owner gave a brief intro to the wine selection/pairing, but come to find out, they were grieving a loss and had just faced personal family heartache, so it was incredible that they were able to pull off this event, under those circumstances.
This place is usually a bike ride destination for us, so it was a treat to have another way to appreciate the venue. I told my husband that I would love to do this again!
Wonderful place and wonderful owners. We go to their Farm House dinners every month. The food is absolutely amazing and the wine pairing is superb.
Had our daughter’s wedding at Defiance Ridge Vineyards. Absolutely AWESOME experience! Essentially flawless. Hannah the event coordinator for the winery was super helpful and accommodated our wishes and made helpful suggestions. The food was FABULOUS. Signature cocktails and of course, wine were EXCELLENT! We give our highest recommendation for this venue for an event as special as a wedding. THANK YOU to the owners and staff at Defiance Ridge Vineyards for such a magical experience!
We fell in love with Defiance Ridge the first time we visited! They offer a variety of ceremony locations, and the reception space felt so unique compared to other venues. In terms of ceremony, reception layout, food, vendors, almost everything, they offered so many different choices to really make it feel like our own. They worked with us on so many little things: making custom signature drinks, letting us bring in decor as soon as their schedule allowed, working with us to schedule decorating and having the rehearsal dinner. The proximity to RTE 94 also worked well, it wasn’t too far away from the STL area, but far away enough that it felt like a fairy tale adventure. All this, including the gorgeous vineyards on the property, made for a perfect place for our wedding.
The real star of DRV is Hannah, the event coordinator. She was absolutely phenomenal. She was communicative, detail oriented, organized, fun to be around and work with, and just an amazing person. She was wonderful during the planning process, offering guidance and expertise but also collaboration. We never felt like we were just something to check off her to do list, even though she probably had a million things to do. On the day, she worked with us through inclement weather and made the ceremony run smoothly, from start to finish (even with the downpour in the last five minutes of the ceremony). Throughout the whole planning process, day of, and after, we felt like Hannah wasn’t just an event coordinator, but a friend. We would not have had such an amazing experience without Hannah. To everyone at DRV, thank you for making our wedding day the best day of our lives.
Peaceful spot, great food, great wine, fun and cozy vibes.
We went to winery food service and wine tasting excellent Thank you!
Visited MO in the summer for a graduation and was advised to check out this spot. WOW, I sort of wish I didn't because all I think about is their wine and great vibes.
The day we visited it was so packed that it was standing room only and the kitchen was behind 2 hours! That did not impact their service. We were fortunate to have been served by a young man by the name of Tristan. Let me just say, Tristan is THE MAN! There's no better way to put it.
So much so, we took another flight back out to MO a month later in hopes to find Tristan, but we didn't 😞.
Needless to say, that didn't impact the service! Everyone there is amazing. The food (those fries and wings 🤌🏾🤌🏾) is to die for! The wine is amazing! I had no idea I'd find vineyards in MO.
If you're thinking about going, just do it! You get a combination of elegance and relaxation. You can dress bourgeois if you'd like, but it's not necessary. To find a place that balances both worlds is rare. Kudos to you all.
I'm so addicted I just got a case of their Peach Mango sparkling wine.
Do it! You will NOT regret it
A perfect place to meet for lunch. Great food. Great service. Great wine.
Fabulous winery afternoon! The food was great. Better than other winery restaurants we frequent but not 5 star worthy. The wine was on par with other Missouri wineries and they partner with west coast vineyards to offer a full range of options. What I think sets this winery apart is the atmosphere. We sat on the back deck but were struck by the enormity of the space. This winery boasts 42 acres of property. The scenic vista over which we ate lunch was so relaxing. I felt like I was on a one day vacation. They definitely cater to large parties with a huge amount of seating and large tables. They have live music on Saturday and Sunday. They are kid friendly, dog friendly, and are big enough to also create an intimate space for a romantic meal. Gorgeous venue for a private event. Definitely a new addition to our winery love affair!
Defiance Ridge winery was gorgeous, in its natural setting as well as the structures, multiple patios cantilever into the side if the hill. It appears to have a spacious event center with lovely full fireplace. The wine was deleesh, my selection was Alpaca White blend. Good selection of brew and cocktails....their participation in the Harvest Host program was a welcome resting spot for the night.
