Really really really really really really liked going to this place their service was on point the waitress made everything pretty interesting, their food was quite large and filling, and the atmosphere there was very welcoming.

The food is average here. If you really know Mexican food, you'll be able to tell. The chips were okay and the salsa lacked flavor and zest. I would not return.

We were just looking for a quick, easy place for lunch. El Tapatio fit the need. We were seated immediately. Chips, salsa, and water served quickly. Order taken and food served all within 20 minutes.

The food is overall good, but it wont be what you're expecting of Mex food. It's more American or Tex Mex versions. Service usually seems to be a little lacking, they don't stop by very often and completely stopped coming by once they brought the check, so no ordering dessert. They also didn't stop back for the payment and we had to wait and wave for some attention at the front desk to pay. You had better be an honest person if you eat here. Atmosphere is good overall.

This place made me realize I’m spoiled where I live (Denver Colorado) where we have plenty of ACTUAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Unfortunately I ended up here because my sister + brother-in-law—who I was visiting—decided to stop here on our drive from St. Louis to Poplar Bluff. I wanted Pizza Hut but they’re the ones driving so they had the final decision. So when we parked I knew in the back of my mind that this place wasn’t going to be good. As such, I ordered a quesadilla thinking, “all they have to do is melt cheese and chicken on a tortilla” but that’s not even what came out!! It was a tortilla with dry chicken inside and no cheese melted with the chicken. They threw some kind of cheese sauce on top?? How do you screw up a quesadilla!! Taco Bell does better. I forced myself to eat this because I was hungry. But this is the biggest disappointment of a “Mexican” restaurant I have ever been to and I told my family they better come see me in Denver. We can go to The Rio Grande, D’Corazon, Machete Tacos, Tacos El Metate, Tacos Selene, basically anywhere is more authentic. Also some of the comments from past reviews are still true - salsa still tastes like spaghetti sauce, waiters don’t ask how was your food, probably because they know it’s bland. No seasoning on the chicken. If you think this is actually Mexican food, please get out of the small town to visit a city with great Mexican food (like Denver!)

Great restaurant. However, I prefer the Park Hills El Tapatio.
