Great decoration, delicious food and such a lovely attention… this place is magical.

Devil on a horseback was a unique experience for my taste.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt like I needed to after last night’s visit. My girlfriend and I came in for dinner because I wanted to treat her to a nice meal. I’d tried this place once before and didn’t love it, but decided to give it another shot because of the great reviews.

When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty. The man at the host stand seemed unsure what to do when I told him we had a reservation, he just told me to pick any table. No big deal, but it set the tone. It took several minutes before anyone brought us water or greeted us, and no one introduced themselves as our server.

Eventually, the same man from the host stand came by to take drink orders. While waiting, I noticed the décor was really nice, but also noticed two people who I assume were the owners sitting with laptops—and a dog in the dining room, which felt a little strange for a fine dining spot.

When our server finally came over, she didn’t introduce herself and seemed annoyed when we asked for more time to look over the menu. Meanwhile, I saw the owners warmly greeting every other table except ours. At one point, the woman (I assume one of the owners) brought food to us that wasn’t ours, got visibly frustrated, and walked off.

We eventually ordered the cornbread and salmon. The cornbread was fine. It's sweet with a very salty bacon jam. My girlfriend liked it more than I did. The salmon was a decent portion but a bit dry, and the flavor combination didn’t really come together for me. Our drinks sat empty for most of the meal without anyone checking in, which was disappointing.

When we finished, I asked for the check and said “no rush,” but it still took about 15 minutes to get it.

Overall, the space itself is lovely, but the service and energy were off from start to finish. I really wanted to like it, but after giving it a second chance, I don’t think I’ll be back.

We had high hopes for Veritas after reading great reviews but unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity to even eat the food. After being seated, our server decided to never come back shortly after taking an appetizer order. Twenty-five minutes later, we still hadn’t received the appetizer or even been asked for our main order. At that point, we left—apparently unnoticed. If this level of service is typical, the positive reviews are hard to understand.

Went for first time for our wedding anniversary dinner. Arrived at 445pm Was told cannot order off dinner menu until 5:30 although we were only table there.. why open for dinner but now allow ordering off dinner menu until later? So ordered off a limited menu, food was bland. Drinks were overpriced. Manager was sweeping the patio as we were out there eating… can’t you sweep before you open instead of while people have plates of food ? Will never forget back here

We had another wonderful Mother’s Day brunch at Veritas. Thank you to the whole crew! You made my family and I feel very special. We loved the scrumptious food. It’s not a buffet. It’s much more special. You are actually served. We stared with wonderful appetizers of deviled eggs, shrimp and devils on horse back. The next course was yummy southern style grits. I don’t want to forget to mention the amazing bread basket with an assortment delicate croissants, homemade bread, whipped butter and locally sourced jams. I ordered the delicious eggs Benedict, my husband enjoyed the quiche, our son loved the brioche French toast with baked fruit and my mom had the eggs Norwegian with smoked salmon. She thought it was tasty. We all enjoyed to utmost. If that doesn’t sound like enough. They had a beautiful array of desserts. I’m not sure if the lemon poppyseed muffins or the to die for chocolate brownie was my favorite. We love that Stephaine shared the story of her family secret recipe about the brownies. As much as we enjoyed the brunch, I have to admit Veritas dinners are one of my very favorite in all of St. Louis. This little hidden gem is a true treat always.

After the new reopening, everything continues to be as incredible as it's ever been! The appetizers are amazing!

Marg was one of the best spicy margs I’ve ever had. The chocolate chip cookies were bought for the kids and we tried them and oh my goodness, so delicious!

Tucked away in a little strip mall at the Clayton and Clarkson intersection, we found this awesome place, Veritas!!
We went there for our anniversary and had an incredible dining experience! The food was not only delicious but excelled in both quality and quantity (hats off to the chef). We opted for the Thursday three-course option, and every dish exceeded our expectations.
To start, we had the goat cheese and eggplant dip with fried pita, which was perfectly balanced in flavor and texture, and a fantastic way to begin the meal and as an accompaniment for our cocktails.
Our cocktails were equally impressive—each one had multi layered flavor and were crafted with innovation and care.
For our main courses, the braised pork was tender and rich, while the steak frites were cooked to perfection. And to top it all off, the brownie with icecream was a decadent and satisfying dessert.
A special shoutout to our server, Jordan, who was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. She made sure we were well-informed about the specials and helped enhance our dining experience with great recommendations.
The whole experience made our day and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommended.

Great experience. A genuine independent/locally owned restaurant and feel. The food is an 11.5 on a scale of 1-10. Generous portions, and perfectly prepared. Some have said they had to wait on their food. Yes, you do. Because it’s made to order. That just offers time to enjoy another glass of wine from One of the best wine menus in St. Louis. I had a wonderful experience, enjoying a great dinner with my wife. We will be back. I definitely recommend.
