This place is just a small town road side cafe. Nothing special in the decor or anything BUT, the food is outstanding. The owner is actually a Cordon Bleu trained chef. You'll find a range of country fare but everything is amazing, fresh, and homemade. The food really is a "best kept" secret.

Drove 45 minutes to try the chicken based on reviews. SPOT ON! Large juicy pieces cooked perfectly. The delicious pickled beets are canned on site. We will definitely go back!

I enjoy the Silver Dollar. The food is very good down home American food. It is run by a nice family and is a favorite with locals from the Swss, Hermann, Owensville area.. Part of the reason I enjoy the place is that it is quirky - sometimes you need to be patient and enjoy the experience and sometimes things click right along. Always get a chuckle when Mattie has an arm load of dishes and pulls the door to the kitchen open with her foot. Just another good American experience.
