Black Bear Diner Independence

We enjoy going here. The food is pretty good and the service is good too. However, this last time we went, we noticed that place was starting to fall into disrepair. The front door wasn't working properly, and the booth seats were covered with duct tape.
I hope management will get on the repairs before it gets too much worse.

Best Breakfast in Kansas City!!!!!

Wanted a quick, not pricy good restaurant for a meal. Even though the place had a lot of customers, we were immediately seated and food came fast. I had the meatloaf dinner which was very large and wife had the taco salad which was also large. Server was efficient and nice. Would recommend

Today, my friend and I met for lunch at the Black Bear Diner in Independence. Our server was having a pretty rough day, which is okay. I appreciated her honesty. It made her relatable and gave me the chance to encourage her. I know I appreciate that when I’m having a rough day.

Anyway, my buddy and I both ordered burgers with onion rings. The order came by way of a smiling young man. In an effort to be silly and make my friend laugh, I noted that she got one more onion ring than I did. We all chuckled, and he walked off. Not two minutes later, he came back with a couple of extra rings for me!

We all enjoyed the laugh, and I appreciated the gesture as it showed a dining place that really cares about its diners. Like they really care! I asked him if I could tip him, and he told me he was the general manager and invited me to just enjoy my meal! My friend and I were so impressed by his humility and kindness. I will definitely be returning, regardless of where I find a Black Bear Diner! Great food and even better customer service!

First time here. I had the California club. It was a wonderful sandwich and my waiter, Gavin, made sure it was chopped up like I asked. The fries were not good. I'll try something different next time for a side. The food I saw while I was there looked really good. I'll be back. Everyone friendly and very accommodating.

the menu is massive, tons of options for every diet or appetite. the service is great too. ive dined here three times the food i would equate to high end cafeteria food the coffee not great, tastes like folgers (i am a coffee snob). if your wanting a ok breakfast this the place.

I was glad to be able to stop in today on Thanksgiving and have an old favorite that I'm usually only able to find in the West.

I was seated quickly at the bar and Brooke quickly came to get my drink order and was immensely patient with me since I took forever to order. There's just so many good things to choose from, hahaha! She was very friendly and helpful with my decision and I decided on the Turkey Club.

What felt like barely 5 minutes had passed when my food was being handed to me, perfectly made. It was delicious. I was very impressed because they were very busy and I almost regretted not getting breakfast until I took a bite of my sandwich. So good.

Thanks for making a trucker stuck on the road for Thanksgiving feel a little less lonely and for bringing a smile to my face.

The customer service was wonderful and the staff were pleasant to us and our kids ? The portion sizes are enormous but the flavor was average. The one thing we did enjoy were the pancakes ? It isn’t necessarily a place I would want to return to but I’m happy with the service we received.
