I had recently gave up on Chinese food around indep but I found this place and I will be back the food is was hot made fresh veggies were fresh the shrimp was clean and taste like real shrimp I’m impressed

I don't live in Independence anymore, but even from the West Coast where Asian cuisine is supposed to be top notch, I still think about Golden Rice almost everyday. I love their chicken, and their green beans are so damn good that I forget how much I hated green beans as a kid. Like... I HATED green beans.

I'm visiting soon, and I'm going to make it a point to visit this time.

This place is definitely an urban myth of some variety. It looks closed down, has a drive thru manned by the what seems to be the same person cooking the food, and the food itself is some of the best chinese take out I've ever had. The portions are massive, the prices low, and free food is offered for certain order amounts. Even more incredibly, this place has pre-2008 pricing, and the store is older than I am, and yet it has stood the test of time.

When I first arrived, I was questioning is the place was closed down. Its faded sign and long jump distance from a liquor store gives off an otherworldly vibe. The menu next to a mailbox in the drive thru made me feel like the joint grew from the asphalt itself. And the wait? 10 minutes for 7 dishes and two drive thru orders behind us.

Whatever keeps this place going is primordial and glamourous. I will dream of this place. It will stand when the Second Coming of Christ comes, and will remain by the End Times. Come here when you miss Chinese Food, because it IS Chinese Food.

There is simple reason as to why this little Chinese spot tucked away on a corner and seemingly closed has survived many global financial crisis and more recessions since its inception.

It is exactly what it promises to be and more- in an age where you expect the opposite.

From packing meats and rice separately for extremely generous portions to throwing in tons of extra condiments and other sauces- this place has not only earned its spot as a go to location for munchies but as a reason to believe in the American dream and the capability for a business to not screw their customers in a time of extraordinary pain.. but to do their best in the industry they've chosen to show people they care if nobody else will.

Never a disappointment! If you want the best in KC this is it! Always get the Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls the BEST! And love that the soda they have is in the bottle not watered down!

Super good pricing, egg drop soup is sooooo good! Chicken was extra juicy!! Absolutely love this place!!! Also huge portions!! Choose this place!! So good! Just a drive through hole in the wall that I’m incredibly happy I found!
