Great breakfast and lunch spot, salad bar, daily specials, baked goods. Friendly staff and clean. You must get 'buzzed-in' as you are entering school property and let the operator know you are there for the cafe.
This small café is located inside a medical building for which you have to be buzzed in through a locked door. The online menu is from 2012, according to the proprietors, and does not reflect current offerings. We left without ordering.
Excelente lugar, atención y buen sabor de los alimentos de la cafeteria dentro del Distrito Escolar
Inside what used to be a hospital (Independence Sanitarium) and is now the Ennovation Center, is a great breakfast/lunch (or dinner) place with better and more than average variety. Recent change of management has improved it, though it was good before. I love the Reuben, packed with corned beef and cheese. No alcohol, just good value, with daily specials, and fast service.
I used to come in for lunch all the time the last few years. Seems like it's under new management that have changed what once was one of my favorite in and outs for lunch. If you're a fan of mediocre cafeteria food, that's what this cafe has become.
I was at a meeting near this location. I stopped here for lunch and ordered a take-out salad, so I could get back to work. The salad was tasty and large. (I couldn't eat it all.) The staff were friendly too.
I have eaten here many times. They prepare a wide range of dishes for both breakfast and lunch. I have never been disappointed. From a single plate to a catered event of 100 they are ready to serve. Their food is fresh and prepared to order. It's a great choice if you decide to eat here!
Joe and Claudia know how to prepare and serve great, honest-to-goodness, stick to your ribs comfort food. Restaurant is very clean and inviting. I've never had an issue with any menu items.
My wife and I are always looking for out of the way, local restaurants that feel more like a local business than a national chain type. We had been reading about this particular cafe for weeks and last week decided to visit this establishment. Much to our surprise it was more of a hospital-type, help yourself and pay at the register place than the, "Cafe", they're advertising. Now, if I was a teacher looking for a quick bite to eat and didn't care much about quality I'd probably choose this place or any gas station quick food place around here to get something in my stomach. I certainly wouldn't choose this place for a sit down type of restaurant at all. It serves a purpose for teachers on the go but not for what we're looking for, sorry to say.

Having visited this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and catered meals, it is consistent in high quality. Daily specials are good values, and the restaurant serves some of the best bacon in town! Catered meals offer many choices, especially for the price. Highly recommended!
The owners and staff are great. I eat here, like, once a week at least. The house made soup is my favorite.
Biscuits and gravy this morning on my way downtown. Dropped in and placed order. They got it ready and out the door I went. What else could you ask for?
Every time I'm in Independence, I grab something to eat from here. Breakfast taste like I made it, without the clean up. Lunch is good & filling as well. You don't have to pay an arm & a leg either. They do catering also. Highly recommend.
Called in a takeout soup and salad order. Soup was being dipped up as I was walking in the door. Would recommend for a quick affordable lunch break.
