Prison Brews was very busy during my most recent visit. I ordered a black and blue burger with onion rings. The burger was great but the onion rings could use a little tweak. The onion ring batter cooked way to hard for my liking. The flavor overall was good but the shell was just way too hard.
Prison Brews does a good job playing on their historical uniqueness and proximity to Jeff City's slammer. Restaurant decor is themed around the cell block. Our mid-week trip to Prison Brews in December was relaxing and low-key which allowed everyone in our group ability to talk and hear each other. We had a very large party and the server did an amazing job yesterday. The food was great. I had black and Bleu burger with sweet potato fries. Dipping sauce was wild! Would definitely go back.
