We went there to try out their turkey. It's is super thin sliced and appears only on the turkey club.

I will return for the smoked ribs. Those ribs stand head and shoulders above all competition within 25+ miles. Will definitely bring some friends here just for these.

I had baked beans and fries for a side. I actually try a bite of a BBQ joint's baked beans first. A simple bite will usually tell me all I need to know about a place. These were in the top 25%. The baked beans actually have flavor.
Not a fan of the string fries. However, I understand why some are.

About me: my wife has alpha gall. And can only eat fish and fowl. She actually likes turkey. So, yes I have tried ALL BBQ joints in Carthage and the Joplin area. - in a search for consistently good thick sliced smoked turkey. That hunt continues. . . .

This place is absolutely AMAZING, and all we did was order through Doordash at our VRBO - Can not say for sure, but they're bread tastes 100% homemade as well, we live in Hot Springs AR, so we were literally just taking a chance as to what looked good, and we hit the jackpot!! Big kudos to this business & their staff, awesome job!! šŸ‘Œ

Used to be the best ribs I've ever had until they had their back to school special, which I ordered for my family. Unfortunately it was not only cold but also the dryest, most toughest ribs I have ever ate. Very disappointed because I used to eat and order from them quite a bit, but now, I'll never spend my money there again

The first time I ever had burnt ends was at Big R’s BBQ—and wow, it was out of this world! Listed as ā€œdouble smoked burnt endsā€ on their menu, it was a perfect balance of tender, crunchy, and caramelized goodness that melted in my mouth. Just… wow. They only make them in limited batches, so the next time they were available, I stocked up, froze a few servings, and even straight from the freezer they were still out of this world. Easily a 20/10 experience (yes, twenty out of ten—that good).

Months later, when my stash was gone, I jumped at the chance to order them again. Sadly, that’s when the magic ended. What I got wasn’t the same masterpiece—it was just their regular brisket (which I’d tried before and found mediocre), chopped up and drenched in BBQ sauce. I thought maybe they’d run out of the real burnt ends and substituted without saying anything. But after giving them a few more chances, it was the same disappointing chopped brisket every time.

I’ve spent hundreds here and gladly would have spent thousands if they’d kept the original quality. But based on my last few visits, those burnt ends deserve a negative score. My last meal here was in January 2025.

Still, I’m grateful for those first couple of unforgettable experiences, and for that, I’m giving them a generous 3/5. I might give them one last shot in the future—but unless the magic returns, they’ve lost a customer.

Easily the best baked beans I've ever had, and the meat was amazing, too. They give you plenty of food and don't charge extra for brisket like a lot of places do. We will absolutely eat here again!

Ordered the three rib plate with potato salad and applesauce. The plate arrived, ribs were naked, no glaze. Ok. There was one bottle of bbq sauce on the table. I cut the ribs apart, tender meat but did need sauce. When I picked up the rib, the bone was cold and the meat next to the bone, also cold. It wasn’t fresh ribs, I do not know how old they were and they were not reheated/handled properly. I told the waitress and she said she’d talk to the manager. When she returned, she offered me a free piece of pie. No. I asked if I were going to be charged for the meal and if so I wanted a box. She came back, no box and had no answer. She was headed back to see the manager for the third time and I ask, how about the manager come talk to the customer? The manager finally came out and offered the same free piece of pie. I declined and asked if I were to pay for this meal and if so, I needed a box. He walked away and returned a few moments later and again offered free piece of pie. Again I said no and he then said there was no charge for the meal. My issue is the mishandling of food. When was it prepared? Why not fresh ribs? When the restaurant closes before dinner, it is presumed they tend to run out of ribs. To be served warmed externally but still be cold internally, it’s not fresh, temperatures are not maintained nor checked and no way of knowing when it was initially prepared. Now I wonder what bbq sauce is in the bottle on the table.
