Wasab Steak House & Sushi

Came in on Mother's Day and the rude hostess ran us and the group of 4 ahead of us off. She kept emphasizing it was a 30 minute wait very rudely. We told her we would wait gladly but in a very rude tone said IT WILL BE 30 MINUTES NO MATTER WHAT very loudly and hateful. I asked her if she even wanted our business and she just shrugged and was like whatever. So we left. Usually my go-to spot but not anymore. Keep in mind there was only six tables and three Hibachi tables at the time. It's not like they were slammed.

I love this place! I feel like there is sometimes a predisposition about restaurants inside malls, but this place is my go to sushi spot while I’m at college. The sashimi is cut thick so I never feel like I am getting juped for my $, I get the $21 sashimi regular, which comes with soup and salad, a spicy tuna (my fav) or California roll, and 8 big sashimi slices!
I would also like to highlight their stuff fried mushroom appetizer, the dipping sauce is yummy and I always get it!
My server was very nice this last time around as well!

Went to this place for my 40th birthday with my whole family including 2 grandkids under the age of 4 and the staff were amazing. It was the best birthday dinner I have ever experienced in public. The kids were entertained and we actually finished a 2 hour dinner without leaving early. Thank you

Food was delicious! 5 out of 5 stars and more ppl need to be there they are missing out ohhhh amazing the soup and sushi was amazing 👏 beautiful dished my only very very small complaints which really ain't anything major is appetites are small but compared to the dishes they are so ok w everything else

First time here will definitely be back alot of food for a great price got we ordered steak and salmon came with salad with ginger dressing miso soup before the meal. With the meal we upgraded to fried rice with our meal it came with vegetables and noodles both. So amazing definitely worth the money. A very informative waitress our chef put on a great show for the 2 of us

I’m so incredibly disappointed I’ve been coming here years and years and never had a issue but the one time I ask for my food corrected I’m told I ordered wrong and that’s what I ordered…. No I’ve always gotten the same orders, 3 specific things I only order from here and NEVER have I been given such a sloppy half ass thrown together to go box.

I’ve always ordered sashimi sampler and it’s always come raw meat on top of pieces of white rice or at the very least not randomly thrown on lettuce as a salad… even ordering to go they have never thrown stuff into a box literally with no thoughts. I’m really unsure how I’ve somehow managed to get this order for years and it’s ALWAYS presented the same and it’s never been served this way?

I’m just disappointed because i usually save up to use my money here as a treat and this is not worth $15.

If there is a best shopping mall Japanese restaurant in the Midwest, this is the one. I never have bad food here and enjoy the lunch boxes especially. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but the ambience inside is pleasant and clean. If you’re ever in the Joplin mall food court wondering what to get, make the short walk to the next hallway and hit up Wasab instead.

I loved this place. They had new flavors that I've never tasted before. Do yourself a favor and get the salad with the ginger dressing!
