Excellent food and service … the only downside is how cold the air conditioning is which makes the food go very cold very quickly !!

We came here for a business dinner but the entry to the restaurant was quite interesting. We got seated and place was filling in slowly. We got our drinks n bread and ordered some lovely apps. Baked Escargot and Tuna Tartare for appetizers was a perfect choice. Escargot was buttery and tuna with some Avocado was absolute delicious. Escargot was definitely the highlight of the night. Then we got some salad and French onion soup. My soup was good, nothing extraordinary. For main course, I ordered boneless ribeye with bone marrow butter w/ some spinach n scalloped potatoes. Everything was absolutely perfect, steak was top notch, probably the butter enhanced the flavor. For dessert, ordered the crème brûlée and it was good with perfect amount of sweetness, the berries with cream. What a great meal, don’t forget to try their signature old fashioned with house bourbon. If I am in Des Moines again, will definitely eat here.Parking: Park across the street at 901 and walk across the skywalk.

Food was WAAAAYYYY too expensive. The salmon was dry and crispy. The beans were crunchy. No side of plain potatoes should be worth $17. The server explained to me what a ribeye as if I didn't know what a cow was. The asparagus was plain and also ~$17. The server offered a piece of cheesecake and was really nice, but he only offered it because he knew that we were overpaying. This place only exists to price gouge wealthy old people who don't want to cook their own steaks.

Phenomenal steakhouse. Every aspect of this restaurant was what I expected. Full disclosure, the price tags are steep but worth every penny. We started with cocktails. I had a great Old Fashioned. I had the wedge salad and oysters on the half shell.I ordered an A3 Kobe Wagyu steak that they had special. It was cooked perfectly. The shift manager was a level 2 sommelier and expertly recommended an amazing wine to complement the richness of the steak. This was a memorable and awesome dinner.- Use the valet service.- Call ahead for large reservations. (I had a party of 14 in a semi-private dining room.)- You can easily expect to spend $250/person if you are drinking and enjoying the full menu.

801 Chophouse provided an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance was elegant and cozy, perfect for a special occasion. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the service was impeccable. The extensive wine list complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, a top-notch steakhouse that I would highly recommend for a memorable evening out.

Over the last few times of going there (and I go a couple times a month) the food has not been that great and tonight is the end for me.Being with a group of people we were talking amongst each other when we went to order which is no big deal. But come 15 minutes later I began to realize the server never asked a single one of us how we wanted the steaks cooked and assumed we all wanted medium when I caught his attention but the food arrived shortly afterWhen the steaks came out, he said that they under did it for me. It was tough, burnt as if the grill/grates haven't been cleaned and were dirty with a bitter bark ( I own a bbq business so i know the taste)I genuinely loved this place but it's a no for me anymore. If you want a GENUINE steak, go to Ocean Prime as well as a few others around kc but this is no longer the place to go unfortunately.

We went to 801 Chophouse to celebrate our daughter's 6th birthday prior to attending the ballet that evening. From the moment we walked in the door our daughter felt so special. The effort and detail the staff went through was so amazing and appreciated. The food was incredible! The prime rib and petite filet were tender and perfect! Highly recommend!

Grabbed a seat at the bar, very friendly folks even in an off hour. Good food and drinks. Bit on the expensive side but worth it for the quality and attentive friendly staff.
