Horrible all around. Nothing good but my drink
Staff was nice. BBQ sauce has an extremely weird flavor. Brisket was meh and had little to no smoke flavor. It didn’t taste fresh either. Disappointed as a BBQ enthusiast visiting from out of town.
Ribs were outstanding. The brisket sandwich was the last of yesterday's meat. Dry and tough. Disappointed. Have always had great food here!

Delicious food. Great environment. Everyone was kind of straightforward. Get you your food. Get you fed. Take care of you the way it should be in an old barbecue place.

Good food, down home atmosphere! I'm glad they haven't changed. I love some new craft bbq, but you can't beat that good soul que.

It was good the meat was tender. The servers were a bit terse but that didn’t bother me too much. It was the fact that I needed more seasoning that made me miss TX BBQ.
I have been a customer since the 1960 's. Order on Uber eats.. what they sent for à pound of Brisket would make Arthur turn over in his grave! Box full of scraps. No long slices and paper thin. Next time Jack Stack
I dont get the hype. We also didn't get what we ordered . The sanitation there leaves much to be desired esp when the restrooms have no soap. I interacted w a few staff memebers and only the gentleman and one of the line staff were pleasant. Everyone looks miserable.

You really need to know what you're walking into before you eat here. The building (and neighborhood) is historic, the line can be out the door, and there may not be room to eat.
If it's your first time, you've likely never had sauce like this and you need to prep yourself for it's uniqueness. It's absolutely nothing like KC Masterpiece, which is unfortunately often the taste some expect when they come from out of town.
If you want to go over the top, get a pork and turkey combo sandwich (it will be on white bread) with fries and slather it with sauce. A wonderful way to spend 15 bucks.

WOW.
My family decided to finally out try this place out in Friday 1/3/24. At first looks, sure, the building is a bit rough but i think it adds good character.
We got an order of fries, onion rings, 1/2 lbs of each of sausage, pork, brisket then a half rack of ribs. It was perfect amount to feed both my husband and I plus 3 hungry kiddos. We were very impressed with the value.
The food itself... so good. I only ordered the sausage because I knew my husband likes sausage. But it ended up being my favorite. The ribs were incredible, we ordered a full rack "to go" to eat later plus one of each of the BBQ sauces.
We are BBQ snobs, and when it comes to good BBQ.. folks... THIS IS IT!
We decided this will be a stop everytime we go through KC. I will have dreams of the food until I get it again 🤣 until then, I will be counting onion rings in my sleep instead of sheep.
Next time, we will be sure to get more BBQ sauce to keep in our cabinets.

I ask for a plate with 2 meats and a couple of sides ... I got 2- 1/2 servings of meat and beans ... nothing was impressive, I did like the way they put the trash meat under a couple of dry slices of brisket...
Parking: Parking lot is small , the place has a sewer gas smell

Came here because of the good reviews on the burnt ends and ribs. Ribs were on point. $29 for a slab. Burnt ends were just alright, thus the 4 stars. Cheesy corn, think mac n cheese but with corn, can be skipped. Potato salad is good. Fries are not bad. $70 for 2.
