Price is very expensive for the quality and portion they offer you.
Food here is nothing to write home about
We god the scallop, salmon, chicken katsu, and lunch charishi.
The raw seafood has a weird aftertaste like they’ve been previously frozen.
Do not recommend coming here!

An underrated gem. I will sing the praises of Chef Sal and Brookside Sushi until the day I die. A consistently great meal accompanied by kind and attentive service. One of my favorite dining experiences in Kansas City is to sit at the bar and order the sake toro nigiri (torched salmon belly with a jalapeno-ponzu glaze) while watching chef Sal prepare sushi. The salmon belly melts away like butter and the char + glaze give it a depth flavor unlike anything else I've found in the city. It can be challenging to find dishes that are not just tasty, but tasty in way that thrills you. The sake toro is that for me. I'll never forget the first time I tried it.

Other highlights: I'll occasionally treat myself to a piece of the blue fin toro nigiri. Hard for me to think of a better bite of raw fish. Just excellent, and worth the occasional splurge. The tonkotsu ramen also surprised me. It is among the best I've had in the metro, and I've yet to try one of their specialty rolls that was anything short of excellent.

Just a great spot that I wish more folks talked about. Everything is source really well, and the menu is broad enough that even the sushi averse will find something they like. Worth your time and money.

This is my new favorite restaurant. Plenty of parking, great seating, and a bright, cozy vibe. We originally got a carry out order (I loved that I could just text their number and talk to them about what I wanted), but when we got inside we knew we had to eat it there. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Lots of smiles.
The food was amazing. We got the sampler platter and didn’t try a single thing we didn’t like (kids loved it too and they’re picky eaters). SO much food for $33 as well.
I can’t wait to come back and try more things on this menu, we only scratched the surface today.

For my first visit, I had the Sushi & Sashimi Platter. What a feast!

A large gamut of their culinary offerings were on display here and it is worth it. The variety of fish, preparation styles, and presentation are both delicious and engaging.

I'm looking forward to more visits.

4.5 Stars if Google would allow it.

Good sushi is hard to find in Kansas City because it truly is an art form. Couple hard to find with fresh and creative rolls and you have only a few options to pick from. Brookside Sushi is among one of those greats.

The staff was so friendly and helpful to make great selections. One of the owners was making the amazing drinks.

Truly one of better sushi experiences we have had in Kansas City!

The spider roll was cut too thin, it was falling apart before my chopsticks got to it.
It was lacking all around, not much flavor, zero texture and zero satisfaction.
