Charlie D's fish Hits 🎯 ain't found a fish place that's messing with them yet in Kansas City

The food was ok l. A lil dried out there were a lot of people there this particular day and it felt like the AC wasn’t working. You get a drink with the buffet but since it was so crowded that we had to wait in line for the drinks. It’s cool but nothing I would go back for, for 25.00 bucks.

My wife and brother have had wonderful experiences at your other locations on 5111 Ararat Dr, which is why we chose to dine at the 600 E 99th St location in Kansas City, MO.

Unfortunately, our experience here was very disappointing. After realizing the cake we purchased earlier wasn’t placed in our bag, we returned with the receipt. My wife politely asked if we could still receive the cake. The cashier responded with rudeness and suspicion, treating us as if we were trying to get something for free dishonestly. Even after calling the other location and confirming the cake had not been given to us, she reluctantly replaced it — without so much as a simple “I’m sorry” or “Thank you for coming back.”

Instead, she coldly reminded us that she’s a small business and “every penny counts,” as if we had tried to take advantage of her business. What made it worse was observing how warmly she treated other customers, while we were met with cold, dismissive service. As we finished our meal and left, there was no farewell, no thank you — just silence and a clear sense of unwelcome.

This experience left a sour taste, and we will not be returning to this location. I hope this feedback helps address the inconsistencies in customer service that could impact loyal patrons like us in the future.

The fish(basa) I got dam near melted in my mouth the mac and cheese perfect,and the Philly cheese steak is so another level.

My family loves this place so much we drive over 1.5 hours, sometimes 2x a week, just to get dinner. My picky kids love the food and you really can't beat the price for the quality.

The fish was great. The Mac and cheese okay. The muffin was cold. The cheese cake was okay. I would diff go for the fish. My suggestion would be to make corn bread mini loafs since they don’t break easily. Warm muffins taste better than cold any day. But overall it was a pleasant atmosphere.

First fish restaurant one been too in my 45 years that charges for bread. Not extra bread, just bread! $1.00 for 2 slices, I've always gotten bread included my fish dinner...
Price would be OK if not charged for bread.... wait time not too bad. But due to the pettiness of charging for bread, I'm cool on them.

I used to frequent quite often. I stopped a year ago when I found a bug in my food. I decided to return yesterday just for a large side of greens. $10. I didn't mind the cost. It was so salty I couldn't even eat it. So, $10 for extremely salty food that I had to toss. Guess, I won't be returning.

Only time the food is good is on Sunday during brunch... Asked have fried crispy and it cooked thru all the way

The price was good. The bass was good. Did not care for the red beans and rice. Not enough rice, the flavor was not what I expected for red beans and rice. And the pork chop dinner had wonderful flavor however they were pretty dry. The collard greens were fantastic and the mashed potatoes and white gravy were mashed potatoes and gravy.

hire cooks with morals who behave. don't make fun of customers and steal their food.

This was my second time coming here I got the catfish dinner. The catfish cooked to perfection. The mash and gravy was good. But them greens. They taste Jss like the last time I had em. DELICIOUS!!! I can eat em by they self. Highly recommend Charlie D’s

I waited way to long for my food, about 7 to 10 people ordered after me and they got they food before me. I came in with 2 ladies we ordered together so why we didn't get our food bout the same time. It's not seasoned, dry, to salty. And really canned greens, nope. The chicken strips are for toddlers, they hella small for the price and you can see they not seasoned it's just white breaded. Where the lawrys seasoning at. Even the pork chop was not seasoned it looked seasoned and they small for the price. Yes the coleslaw is literally just chopped cabbage, dry AF. I couldn't eat here again, pass, very disappointed!
