Food was overall good. I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2bacon burnt ends and 1/2 slab of ribs. My brisket was a little dry. Bbq sauce would have helped however, I asked cashier for bbq sauce before leaving with my to go order and she assured me it was in my bag. I got home and there was no sauce and no bread. The cornbread i ordered was a crumbly mess. The beans were great. Just a little disappointed after waiting outside for 45 minutes.

BBQ is always subjective, everybody has their own taste, so my review is mainly on the lack of meat served. I went on Friday and got in line at 11:25. Made it inside in 30 minutes and ordered the 2 meat plate, choosing brisket and turkey. Love me some smoked turkey breast. I received 3 slices of turkey and only 2 slices of brisket. I was expecting at least 3 slices of brisket, come on. My 2 sides were smoked elotes and beans. Ok, taste of the food. Brisket was good, moist and good flavor. Wished I'd had that 3rd slice. Turkey, man it was dry and lacked flavor. Severely disappointed in the turkey. Smoked elotes was flavorful, with a little spicy kick. Beans, common canned bean flavor with syrupy sugar flavor mixed in along with fake heat. Not a fan. All in all, came away disappointed in the place. Not worth the 30 minute wait.

Overall great! BBQ reminds me more of Carolinian BBQ sauce! Their meat is perfectly smoked and tender! Great place! 10/10 recommend!
Bacon ends were the best thing I ever had. Ribs fell off the bone and brisket melted in my mouth. Elote was a super yummy side dish and the Mac is a classic. Highly recommend but get there early a line when wrapped around the building when we arrived at 12!!! So worth the wait!
KC style BBQ at its best nestled in the historic West Bottoms. I ordered the 3 meat plate with bacon burnt ends, pulled pork and brisket with collard greens and mac and cheese. You MUST get the Mac and cheese! All the meats were perfect, the collard greens were seasoned just right and the mac and cheese was full of flavor. Definitely NOT from a box. I would recommend eating here more than once because I'll definitely be coming back!
Best bbq in KC! I eat lots of bbq, have been to top spots across the country and this is in that category. Excellent smoked meat. Perfect bark. Well rendered fat. Moist tender meat. I will def come back next time I’m in KC!

Great food that feeds not only your stomach, but your soul! Thoroughly impressed with the delicious BBQ served at Chef J BBQ. I recommend the entire menu, all the proteins (meats) are tender and the sides make you want to do a dance on the first bite (try to the smoked elotes). Make sure to get there early, because when something is sold out, it’s sold out for the rest of the day. All in all some of the best BBQ around!

I tried the MVP sandwich, best way to taste the meats. It was not my favorite though all good meats. But the other one i tried and that I'll be coming back and getting next time was the beef and cheddar sandwich. Thick brisket, with cheese sauce (same sauce used in the mac and cheese) and I'll get a large size of the mac and cheese. Also their sauces are a standout! Really loved the darker sauce and red one ( sorry not sure of the names)
