The food was amazing, I loved my dish. The salsa wasn't spicy, which I loved. The ambiance was nice, and the wall paintings were a nice touch. The only issue was that the waiters were scarce. I asked for queso Blanco, and he said he'd get it but never did, and he didn't even put it on our ticket, so I guess he never intended to get it. Other than that I do not recommend coming during dinner rush lol lunch is a safer bet for parking

We got lunch catered for work. 1 beef and 1 chicken taco. With beans and rice and chips and salsa. Everything was very bland. Portions are small. Shells had a weird texture. I just crumbled the tacos to try to make nachos. Salsa was very watery. Maybe I will go into the actual restaurant to try some things.

My kids love the quesadilla and asked if we could door dash it on Christmas Eve. The queso is good and the fajitas are huge for the price. When I miss Texas Mexican I will definitely be coming here!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in KCMO. My husband and I dine in frequently and it has never missed. Their margaritas are well priced and poured strong, and the food is always so fresh and so well prepared. Everything is always fast and the service is friendly too!

Chelly’s Cafe serves some of the best Mexican food around. Everything tastes homemade and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff always makes you feel welcome. My meal came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Honestly, Chelly’s Café used to be our go-to spot when we first moved to Missouri. We would order two or three times a week because the portions were big and the prices felt fair. But in the last three months, something has definitely changed.
The food has become sloppy, often times also cold, and the portions are noticeably smaller. On top of that, their website caused us a huge headache—it kept charging our account (about $80 worth of food) even though the order never went through. When we called, they recognized us by name and knew our usual order, but instead of helping, they just asked for a screenshot. After we sent it, they said they didn’t see it on their end and offered no resolution whatsoever.
Dining in isn’t much better. The tables are sticky and dirty, and to me, that reflects how the kitchen is being run. I used to work in restaurants, so I know cleanliness in the dining room usually speaks volumes about cleanliness in the back.
