Chelly’s Cafe serves some of the best Mexican food around. Everything tastes homemade and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff always makes you feel welcome. My meal came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Honestly, Chelly’s Café used to be our go-to spot when we first moved to Missouri. We would order two or three times a week because the portions were big and the prices felt fair. But in the last three months, something has definitely changed.
The food has become sloppy, often times also cold, and the portions are noticeably smaller. On top of that, their website caused us a huge headache—it kept charging our account (about $80 worth of food) even though the order never went through. When we called, they recognized us by name and knew our usual order, but instead of helping, they just asked for a screenshot. After we sent it, they said they didn’t see it on their end and offered no resolution whatsoever.
Dining in isn’t much better. The tables are sticky and dirty, and to me, that reflects how the kitchen is being run. I used to work in restaurants, so I know cleanliness in the dining room usually speaks volumes about cleanliness in the back.

The Steak Fajita Taco Salad at Chelly’s Cafe is absolutely delicious—tender, flavorful steak piled high over crisp lettuce, fresh veggies, cheese, and a perfectly crunchy tortilla shell. Every bite is hearty, fresh, and satisfying, making it a must-try favorite!

Brenda , was our waitress she was very helpful for us. I have dysplasia she helped me find what would be easier for me to order and explained . Believe me she’s amazing definitely helps make dinning experience pleasant. The food was very good and fresh hot and it is a busy place a must check out Mexican food choice .

This place customer service was really good. The food was good or should I say that the food was tasty? However I gave service three stars because the waiter didn’t understand nothing that I was saying and I just went with the flow and when the food came out it was Lukewarm it wasn’t hot but the food was tasty so I got a to go box and took it home and warmed it up and it was excellent. I really do wish that they had someone that actually waited the tables like the people that bring out the food because I am telling you he didn’t understand nothing that I was saying and we would have gotten more but because he didn’t understand we stopped at nachos that super nacho and soft tacos but it was tasty and I think it was the language barrier or should I put it like this we spent $45. 55 with tip…It could’ve very well been 100 if he understood what we were saying but thank you for the customer service coming in the restaurant, you all was awesome. Oh yeah, and our drinks was virgin and we didn’t ask for them to be virgin… but this will not stop me from trying this place again or at least get it to go… no drinks tho you pay the same virgin or not and you really paying for the liquor lol but the no drink drinks was tasty too… the food is very tasty coming in the door the customer service and those people that bring the food out is excellent. Wait, they add 2.50 no food charges to your bill he didn’t know what that was for… but I just let it go….

After driving by all the time, we finally got dinner here Friday night and it was so wonderful. If you live in Waldo and haven’t been here you’re missing out. New favorite Mexican joint. Wait was only 20 minutes and we drank margs at the bar while we waited. Met the owner, she was sweet and professional. Was packed and still got good quickly and received great service. We got carne asada and some queso. Ask for the coleslaw, it’s got jicama and pineapple in it…sooo gooood! We’ll be back soon.

Bland, flavorless enchiladas that were smaller than Taco Bell soft tacos. Tiny portions, bland sauces. Overpriced. Pico should never be 1/3 of a meal. White rice tossed in taco grease is disgraceful.
