Not as consistent as other BBQ spots in town. My brisket and ribs were a bit rubbery and overdone. Burnt ends were mostly great. I think from now on, I'm just going to get takeout from now on. The restaurant area just doesn't seem inviting, a bit dingy.

The meat was not particularly impressive, and I was disappointed given the lengthy wait to try it, as their operating hours and my work schedule rarely aligned. However, I must commend their exceptional staff, among the nicest in Kansas City, Missouri. The owner was extremely courteous and a humble gentleman. Unfortunately, the overall experience was subpar, and I believe my expectations, fueled by glowing reviews, contributed to my disappointment. Nevertheless, the owner and staff made the experience enjoyable, making it challenging for me to assign a lower rating. While their barbecue sauce was not to my liking, it did enhance the flavor of the meat. Notably, the meat was dry, which was inexcusable regardless of their best efforts.

Nobody does brisket like this place. Thick sliced. The regular sandwich has a lot of meat on it. Never fatty. Mouth watering. They’re the best.

Just tried this place a couple months ago with some friends that love trying all the BBQ spots and we have been back 4 times now, killer sauce, the jalapeño sausage is the best I've had, ribs are tender and flavourful, burnt ends actually have a some burn and great bark on them and the staff is so friendly, can't wait for it to cool down to try thier pork chili!!

The value, service, and meat quality at this KC institution are exceptional and only getting as we head into 2025. The prices seem too good to believe, but they aren’t taking shortcuts with service or the quality of the meat. Their to-go operation is great and lightning quick.
I’ll admit my beef preference might involve a bit more seasoning, but the quality and smoky taste are excellent.

The combo plate that had beef brisket, ribs, and burnt ends was good. However, the burnt ends were a little bit tough to eat, and the beef brisket was a little bit underseasoned without sauce (sauce made it better). The fries were delicious and crispy, and the baked beans were good also. The food was got out relatively fast after ordering and the inside reminds me of an old-school BBQ joint. Overall, the food is not as good as Joe's, but it's nice to have a place that is not a chain (have multiple locations).

The Big D does not disappoint!
Everything we had was great but the brisket was the star of the show. So tender! The service was so personal and friendly. Definitely should be on your radar!

Came on straight out of the hospital after being npo for 12 hrs and they have the most tender bbq!!! Satisfied my cravings and the environment is so relaxed!!
