We was excited the day before seeing the doughnut king in kanas city. Had came to town for a concert .we decided to get doughnuts for our trip home a9 hour ride..we in the shop to buy them .Saw on the menu large size doughnuts twisty and long john dozen 20.00 i thought perfect twisties are my fav..i told the lady i wanted the long john twistie dozen she filled it with regular doughnut and 2 longjohns no twisties i said but i asked for the longjohn twistie large dozen she replied this is the large dozen you asked for i said oh i thought it would have twisties in it she talked in a very condescending voice well what do you want. made me feel like i was being trouble another lady said we will give u want you want well the whole thing made me feel very uneasy so i paid and left which she charged me for the longjohn dozen ..so if you go there becareful what ypu order and hopefully dont upset the staff yikes i know im from out of town but sheesh never would i buy doughnuts there again very sad about my experience.

This place has doughnuts down! I've been there in the afternoon and they still have a great selection in the cases, unlike other places that are out of everything.
They have unusual flavors like maple with actual bacon crumbles on top, what appears to be fruity pebbles on another one, lemon, strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter, orange, and way more than my memory can retain. And every one of them that I've tried has been delicious.
Adequate parking lot, fast and friendly service, great prices, clean, well-lit, everything you could want in a doughnut shop and more. They even have a drive-thru!

This is the third time going here that has been a bad experience, the first time They gave me the wrong doughnuts. The second time I waited in the drive thru for more than 15 minutes and no one took my order. And it wasn't like they were busy, they only had one customer the entire time I was there and he didn't walk in until I was already there for 5 minutes. After I could not get there attention I left. The third time they barely had anything left and it was right before 9 am. I ordered 2 cherry crullers, 2 long John's and a dozen assorted doughnut holes. They took my payment and only gave me the doughnut holes, it took a few more minutes to get there attention to get the other 4 doughnuts. My mistake was trusting them and not checking my order. Instead of assorted doughnut holes they were all glazed, and instead of 2 cherry crullers they gave me 2 apple turnovers. They are too busy talking to each other to be able to fill the order correctly. This is the last time I will ever go here. They are more worried about socializing than they are at doing their jobs. I've been coming here for years. Now I'm going to start going to Ray's doughnuts, they might not be as good as doughnut king but at least I will get what I ordered. Terrible experience.

Hands down, my favorite go-to donut spot in KC. I’ve never once been disappointed. The staff delivers great customer service every time, the donuts are made in-house, and everything is delicious at a great price.
My favorite is their old-fashioned donuts, truly melt-in-your-mouth good. Solid place, great value, friendly faces, and always fresh donuts.
