Place took over one of my favorites, Jerry's, but I am not disappointed with it. The owner is awesome, the food is great, and I Jerry's has moved locations.

EJ's Urban Eatery is hands down one of the best brunch and lunch spots in Kansas City. My first time visiting EJ's and haven't stopped craving it. It is a casual spot that makes you feel at home. You will often find Erik (the owner) making sure that customers are satisfied. I highly recommend.

Wanted to try something different this morning so I happened upon EJ's Urban Eatery.

We decided to try one of the off-the-beaten-path places for breakfast, and so glad we did! Just a 5 min drive from our hotel downtown, we really enjoyed the Urban Diner atmosphere and the amazing food! Our server Elizabeth was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and really felt like family dining there. My friend had the grits with shrimp and biscuits and I had the breakfast special with thick cut bacon and eggs. Definitely worth checking out when you’re in KC!

I visited EJ's with a group of people. We had a great time. We mostly each got something different. This is a great place for comfort food, but it's a little better than just that. Well executed. Ingredients are sourced well, better quality than it could be. There is a clear interest in providing something a cut above. I love the seating, it's comfortable and encourages you to stay. There's power at the bar in case you need to plug in a phone or laptop. Service is super friendly - across the board everyone working there really wants you to have a great experience. It's accessible, restrooms are as well. They are gender specific. I think the Brussels sprouts are the best I've ever had anywhere. I really liked the brisket. I wished I'd gotten the green beans, they looked excellent. I returned about a week later to try out their brunch. The bacon is the best bacon I have ever had.

Came here for breakfast while visiting KC for the weekend. You order your food 1st from the menu posted on the chalk board style wall and then you're free to take a seat wherever you want and pay when you're done. I went with the 3 meat skillet and OMG!! It was fantastic, it comes out in a mini skillet. The skillet includes ; brisket, sausage, ham, onions on top of breakfast potatoes cheddar, gravy and then topped with a fried egg( I suggest over medium). I should've take a picture but trust me you won't be disappointed. I will definitely come again when I'm in the area.

I had the shrimp and grits with red-eye gravy. I opted for the two additional fried eggs on top. The taste was wonderful. The service was super friendly. There was not a lot of seating, so we shared a table with another family - a pleasant dining experience.

Overall the food is delicious. There are no alternatives for non-beef or pork eaters besides shrimp which doesn't go too well with breakfast potatoes and eggs. They make it work though. The good comes out fairly quickly and the drink options are great. Hidden family friendly gem - just don't expect turkey sausage

The food here is terrific! I also love this place because it works really well for groups of 8-10 people who want to hang out, have a great meal, and be able to actually communicate with each other.

As a fellow restaurant owner. This was a great find. I told Erik who I was and he treated me just like family. The Absolute Best Shrimp & Grits. His Brisket & Pulled Pork is amazing as well. Way better than a famous bbq place in Kansas City that we ate at last night!

This is a great restaurant! My partner and I took mom out for a Sunday lunch. She is in her "golden" years and eats lightly. Mom ordered the BLT and just devoured that sandwich! She commented several times on how good she thought it was! I had the eggs benedict, it was delicious! We all split a very tasty cinnamon roll... Mom ended up ordering one to take home! The wait staff was great and very friendly. The prices are a moderate range and are a very good value for the quality of the meal served. There are several items on the menu I want to try and I look forward to visiting again.

Had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich with potato salad. The first bite of the sandwich itself was not that mind blowing but the bites to come were better and better! Nice and savory.

Food was amazing. Breakfast burrito was fantastic more food than you can eat and really not that expensive for the amount of food you get

EJ's Urban Eatery is hands down one of the best brunch and lunch spots in Kansas City. My first time visiting EJ's was for a Yelp Elite event and haven't stopped craving it. It is a casual spot that makes you feel at home. You will often find Erik (the owner) making sure that customers are satisfied. Recently when visiting, the guy taking our order recommended adding an over easy egg to the shrimp and grits. Holy moly, was it good! I don't think there's anything at EJ's that's not incredibly amazing. I will never stop eating at EJ's, it is now a Kansas City staple in my book.
