Good strong cocktails, great variety of small plates to easily share. Love their ricotta dish. Nice service as well. Ambiance is fine. DO NOT GET THE CHICKPEA FRIES (no flavor). Everything else on the menu is great.

We have been going here for years, and I did not realize I had not yet written a review to express how fantastic this place is. The food is nearly perfect. I do not think I can go here without getting the roasted feta, served in a cast iron pan topped with red onions, pepitas and amazing spices. It's also almost even better reheated at home. The olives are also the best I've had in Kansas City. My wife grew up where falafel originated, and yet she has stated that Extra Virgin's falafel is the best she has ever had. I've had many other dishes and just about everything is phenomenal. The one thing I would never want again is the chickpea fries. They have been on the menu for years, so I presume some folks like them, but they are not for me. The cocktails are great and they usually have some lesser known classics, such as a Sidecar. A while back they featured a pumpkin cocktail which was my wife's all-time favorite. The bar is fairly large, and I've found you don't always get the greatest service sitting there, but I've only ever had an actually bad experience once, and that was a couple years ago. I've never made my own official list, but I suspect that if I did, Extra Virgin would be in my Top 5 restaurants in the KC metro.

Food was sadly meh. The dip was amazing, but everything else we tried tasted flavorless or super citrusy. For that price you would expect better food. The atmosphere felt like a busy restaurant in a hustle nothing wrong with it really.

Once again the food did not disappoint. Love coming here when we are in town for a conference. The most delicious falafel I've ever had. Branzino was lovely. And the Turkish coffee chocolate torte which we shared with the orange blossom panna cotta was the perfect end. Wish I had space in my tummy for allll the dishes!

Visited for service industry night (50% off for you and 1 other person's bill) which was a fantastic deal! We ordered the chicken skewers (3), Lebanese hummus, grilled bread and ricotta, and scallop ceviche. We were impressed with all! They have a large selection of NA drinks with the NA liquors and the entire menu is gluten free except for items that specifically list bread or pita! The ambiance was quite loud with all tables full, so maybe not the spot for a first date or the soft-spoken if you're going during prime hours!

Just tried this KC staple for the first time recently and loved it! My boyfriend and I were looking for a new place to have a nice dinner kind of last minute and Extra Virgin squeezed us in! We sat in the semi private area, and honestly, I think sitting outside would have been better. Walking past the patio and dining area, the semi private room seemed a little less lively and charming, but it was still nice! Our server was great and I appreciated that there were a ton of drink/wine options. It is small plates which is pretty fun so you get to try a ton of stuff. We ordered the Lebanese Hummus, Chickpea Fries, Fudgy Eggs, Trout Dip, the Tomato Shrimp and the Turkish Chocolate Torte for dessert! I loved most of this, but I think the standouts were the hummus, shrimp and dessert! I could have gone without the chickpea fries which was a little disappointing but the texture was just a little soft for me. Overall, the meal was very good and I recommend coming here to try a bunch of yummy dishes with someone you love sharing meals with!

One of the best dining experiences I have had in Kansas City. The food was AMAZING. My only regrets are that I did not have more room to try more dishes and when I come back I'll have to decide if I want to try new dishes or get the amazing ones of already tried. They make one the best old fashioneds I've ever had. My wife got the Keylime Me Softly, which was an amazing drink made with pisco and tasted just like key lime pie.

Sadly, Extra Virgin isn't what it used to be prior to the Mediterranean menu. I've tried the chicken skewers, shrimp, and pork loin and was disappointed and sad to have spent the money. Pork loin is in a skillet of grease and has a very off taste either from seasoning or the chorizo used; it almost tasted rotten. The chicken skewers are good but overpriced and not impressive, just fine. The shrimp is served in a tomato sauce with chunks of lemon creating a too acidic flavor combo with the shrimp. Wasn't a fan. The squash and cucumber salad are very good, but in my experience their proteins leave a lot to be desired. Service was pretty slow for a Wednesday night which left me ready to leave well before we received the check. I won't come back for dinner, but possibly for Monday night pizza or happy hour drinks and veggie small plates.

We came here for happy hour and were very pleased! It was quite busy even on a weekday so honestly would recommend a reservation. We did end up finding a few seats at the bar, which was quite full too. Our server was great. Excellent cocktails. The food was fresh tasting and with great flavor! They have select food items that are half off during happy hour and then $2 off drinks. Looking forward to trying their sister restaurant right next door.

Service is always great. Vibes are good. Cocktails are superb. Hoping they bring back the banana milkshake drink again ?Food here is 50/50 for me. The flavor/quality doesn’t match the cost in my opinion. Don’t expect authentic Mediterranean tapas. Simplicity can be phenomenal when done well; unfortunately, I think they miss the mark too often…but maybe I’m trying the wrong things!Sad that the mussels have changed to a cream sauce; flavor profile isn’t bad, but I think the mussels themselves tasted better in the previous broth. Seafood and dairy is a delicate dance. I usually finish the whole bowl (with other broth) and this time I ate two or three mussels and ended up leaving the rest behind. The texture was off. Sad to have wasted the money. The grilled bread and pita are always great. The halved eggs are delightful. Kebabs are decent, albeit a little over cooked. Ricotta is pretty good! I’ve heard lots of good things about the octopus and may try that next time with an update.Hummus is alright, but lacking. Basically tastes like it’s only chickpeas and oil. Would like some salt/garlic/lemon/cumin/anything…the dollop of canned tomato on top isn’t doing much for it.Marinated olives are great…not sure why they don’t just get pitted ones, though. Skip the chickpea fries.Tried the Turkish coffee chocolate cake with caramel - it just tasted like the go-to/default fancy restaurant flourless chocolate cake. Not bad, but didn’t live up to the description. The caramel was poorly made and was basically in sugar syrup stage. I think you’ll have better luck with the other options.Overall, come for the vibes and cocktails at happy hour; don’t expect to be blown away by the tapas. Ask for recommendations from the staff.

The food was great, the service was excellent and was a great experience! We had a reservation at 8:30 but the group that had our table were taking much longer than expected. The staff told us what was going on and fixed the issue by moving us to a different location in the restaurant that was even better table than we originally had! We all loved the sharable food and the house speciality cocktails were amazing!

The food my boyfriend and I went here for dinner and shared 4 dishes and I thought it was the perfect amount but my bf left a bit hungry and could have eaten more. What we ordered: hummus, scallop ceviche, octopus, branzino I am honestly still thinking about the branzino... cannot recommend enough!

My fav restaurant. Effie is the absolute best server ever!!!!!! She made our experience amazing.

This restaurant was amazing!!! My boyfriend and I shared 4 of the dishes; hummus, scallop ceviche, octopus, & branzino. I'm gluten free and there were tons of options and offered veggies to dip in the hummus. If you get one of these things, I would recommend the branzino... fair warning the whole fish comes out. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the dishes because they all look amazing.

We used to make lists of waiters we like at a restaurant… we had to stop here… John, Andy, Ben, Francisco…. There is no end to the good service. The food is amazing, but we keep coming back for the people!
