I won’t lie. The food is good. The service is hard every time you go in there whoever the cashier is has a bad attitude on top of that. Try to call to order food. They keep taking the phone off the hook, sitting it down not seeing anything and all you can hear them doing is cussing in the background and no one wants answer the phone to talk to you. The service is bad. I think they need to restart over.

I wasn't even going to post this but the initial response that I got when I called was just not called for. I called to inform them that my fish was raw and as soon as I told her the first thing out her mouth was ( I'm not the cook I'm just the cashier) no apology no oh let me make this right. It was just to take them blame off of herself. I responded and told her I know that you not the cook I was just calling to let you all know so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Then she offered to replace my meal. I kindly declined and let her know that I wasn't calling to get free food or my money back and I definitely will never return. That is poor customer service skills and it is sad.. Just take accountability for you alls mistakes. Regardless of who cooked it as a business that is your responsibility. I wish that I could post a picture of this mess it's was pink in the inside but the outside was fried perfectly. Seems like that were cooking frozen fish.

I placed an order for a number 2 with Okra. I got my food the okra was raw and doughy, So I called they said they would replaced the okra but I asked since I live so far will you just replaced my whole order because my fish will be cold, they said no and then she proceeded to put the phone down and call me a liar. So unprofessional and rude to customers, the manager was too, which he wouldn’t come out and talk to me like a coward. And this right here is why it’s so hard to go to black establishment. Left and went straight to Charlie D’s smh

I’m mostly disappointed that the amount of food that’s served for the amount of money you spend is disproportionate! The fries appear to have been prepared and refried… paying $18, for 6 TINY pieces of fish and tiny fries is definitely WRONG! So while I try to patronize small and black owned businesses, I’m going to leave this one alone! Sure, they have been in this location for YEARS… and their service was NOT always like this, now I see this only getting worse… they were generous with their serving sizes… now not so much… and what’s worse is, they didn’t offer to give me a bit more to satisfy my complaint… they instead doubled down on the idea that they weigh everything before it’s served… So duly noted and I won’t show my face in the place going forward !

I always get the greens an fried fish which I recommend the greens I will come from a far to get them greens.. there's an older lady that works in there and she's truly amazing..
A true South KC landmark — this spot is hands down my favorite fish place in all of Kansas City. I always get the bossa with red beans and rice, green beans, corn on the cob, sweet potato pie, greens, and cornbread — plus extra hot sauce and tartar sauce (a must!). Every bite hits just right — gas ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️

Service is terrible along with the food. UPDATE: I tried this place today 8/27/25 for lunch. Ordered fish and fries but received fish and okra. The pieces if fish were small and overcooked (hard). Never returning.
