I started going to the original Gates location over fifty years ago. The food and the service are gone down hill a little. I ordered two meals consisting of the beef on bun with fries and a side of beans. The beans were delicious but the sandwiches were over fatty and the fries weren't crisp and lacked the taste I had before. Hoping it was just an off day

Everything was amazing! We had a beef Nooner and a chicken link all under $30. The service was incredible. The staff was so friendly and helped us pick what to order and checked on us throughout our meal. Their best kept secret is chicken wings. You must buy their sauces and rubs. This was an awesome experience!

A lot of mold on walls everywhere. Was a great place back in the day. Now the meat was awful, no flavor, very pale. It had a disgusting taste. The fries were cooked in oil that had not been changed this year.

Burnt ends taste good. A bit hard to understand the menu. Soft drink size is too big to finish for me.
Pickle was too salty. I only ate couple and couldn't finish it. The meat was very delicious.
A traditional KC style BBQ and I am love to come back again!

When US presidents visit Kansas City they invariably go to either Gates or Bryant's for their original barbecue. Do your out-of-town guests deserve anything less? In my opinion Gates edges out Bryant's by a small margin.

This place is great. Love the extra hot sauce. If I move from kc, I always make sure I buy some bottles cause it isn't anywhere else. I went 3 times in one week and got the nooner erytime. Delicious

First of all that old lady attitude is horrible and always is. Then they always out of chicken so I went with the double deuce I basically paid for bones and fat. This reminded me why I haven’t ate there in years the last time my wings was still bloody and cold I’m over it
Employee was rude. Fries were cold. Store was beyond dirty. I wouldn't recommend that place for a dog to eat at. I will never get food there again.
