I have never left a negative review anywhere that I can ever recall. My wife and I waited around at the front counter for an employee to notice us. I looked back in the back towards the bathroom and she was just relaxing on her phone… They didn’t serve drip coffee on a Saturday afternoon. Is this not a coffee shop? My wife ordered a chai tea and it came out like lukewarm tea flavored water- is there not hot water available to brew tea? Moreover, the bathrooms are disgusting and the wifi is spotty at best. It’s a shame because the atmosphere is great but the staff couldn’t be troubled to make a proper coffee / tea..

Decided to give this place a second shot, unfortunately coffee was still mediocre. Atmosphere is great though.

I stopped by Hitides Coffee while downtown and decided to order a drink since only paying customers are allowed to use the restroom (which I understand). After ordering a matcha latte, I waited my turn for the single bathroom — no issue there. But what followed was painfully slow service.
The gentleman who took my order was kind and professional, but the barista preparing drinks moved at a pace I’ve never seen in ANY service job. I’ve worked in the service industry for over a decade, and even the DMV runs faster than what I witnessed here. It took over 20 minutes for a simple matcha latte — and that’s not an exaggeration. I checked my phone log between texts to confirm the wait time.
There were people inside, but it wasn’t busy. By the time I left, she had only just gotten to the two customers who were ahead of me when I had originally arrived. I finally told them to keep the drink, wished them a good day, and walked out.
$6 drink + $3 tip = $9 just to use the restroom. No one should ever have to wait that long for a drink, especially when the shop isn’t slammed.
Someone seriously needs to provide better training or guidance for that barista. Not everyone has the luxury of standing around for 20+ minutes waiting for a simple beverage. I’ve been through the morning rush at packed cafés in L.A. and New York and still got my drink faster than here! This was by far the slowest coffee shop experience I’ve EVER had.

Absolutely amazing! We are from another area that does not have dole whips. We tried a dole whip here and it was amazing. The place is styled really cool too!

Ordered online from their website so my coffee could be ready for when i get there, they weren’t even open yet so be careful when ordering online, verify that it is within their late hours of operation.

I’ve had great experiences with this place around the first couple years they were open. But now I’m extremely disappointed and will never return. I received the worst latte I’ve ever had as it was completely watered down, couldn’t taste the flavoring, and overall terrible. Due to how busy they were, I couldn’t even ask for a remake since it would’ve taken another 20 minutes to make it.

Tried the coffee again --maybe tried it two times a year ago
Sadly still did not like it. It was $8.44 for a 16oz small iced coffee --with flavored syrup that was not house made sadly.
I know some coffee places are in the $7-$8 dollar range but that's normally for a large!
It was overly sweet like the other two times I tried it. The taste and value isn't there for me personally.

Hitides has accomplished something very unique and individual to them that sets them aside from all other coffee shops in the KC area. Nailing the hawiian value of aloha through decor, music, and food, Hitides is a go to spot to study, catch up on work, hang with friends or grab a snack on your lunch break. While Hitides is at the front, a coffee shop, Hitides provides so much more through supporting local Polynesian business and KC local business. Anyone who wants to support a true dream and a Business doing good should visit Hitides.

Hitides Coffee is such a gem! The drinks are creative and delicious, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the staff makes you feel right at home. Easily one of the best spots for coffee lovers.

I’m not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from! This was my first time visiting, and I had a wonderful experience. The service was fast, drink delicious, and atmosphere inviting. I will definitely come back!

Requires aloha spirit. We ordered two coffees, one donut, and one bagel. Everything came out separately, spaced 5-10 minutes apart. It took over 30 minutes to get everything! Hard to enjoy your coffee and conversation this way.

My husband and I went this morning before work to try this coffee shop. There are a lot of people who make videos about it in Kansas City and say that it’s a great coffee shop and obviously it has great reviews at 4 1/2 stars, so we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, there was one person in front of us who was ordering. We then ordered after them, and then there were three more groups that walked in after us. There was only one person working. The worker proceeded to take everyone’s order who is inside and then start working, which took quite a bit of time. We were inside this coffee shop for 45 minutes. Coffee we received was mediocre at best and the bagel that we had ordered was hard and stale. we spent $30 and both of us didn’t drink our coffee or eat our breakfast. The guy who ordered behind us finally got his coffee as well as I was sitting in my car and took off running down the street because of how long it took to get his drink. They are definitely understaffed and not trained on how to efficiently get through orders when there’s only one person there. Unfortunately, the coffee was not worth the wait. It definitely won’t be back and won’t be recommending to people.
I literally could not have survived the summer without a steady stream of Hitides Dole whip.
