We were visinting from Oklahoma and were told to try KC BBQ.
Our appetizer was the cornbread and when it came out it was greasy. We got the pit boss meal to share between the 3 of us, however the meats were extremely bland, and some were incredibly dry. The sides were sub par. Our waiter was great, the atmosphere was... interesting.

Im not sure if we just ordered the wrong thing, but I have no idea how this place is rated so highly.

Myself and my company won't be coming back...

Food was lacking. We went in expecting good BBQ and ended up with below average food. Got the KC Combo with Beef ribs, Burnt ends and the Bone In Chicken. The Chicken was cooked but came out stone cold. The Beef ribs were dry and there was not much meet in the bones at all. The Burnt Ends were so dry they bordered on beef jerky. The flavor was ok but left way too much to be desired. Another party member got the brisket and the Turkey. The Brisket was ok, but was under seasoned and the Turkey had the Taste and Texture of Deli Meat. Sitting outside the atmosphere was cool. After being highly recommended by a few locals I would hard pass this restaurant.

Nice time here, prices are competitive but our burnt ends and ribs were very tough and had a lot of hard spots that had to be spot out. Summer cocktails were delicious and the cornbread was a favorite. The place doesn't stand up to the local competition for me.

We were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time and were sat outside without being asked. Would have preferred to be inside.

The food was absolutely amazing. The lamb ribs were literally falling off the bone and our server, Toby, checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect and we were never without water. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I will ever like barbecue anywhere in this area unless it is from here. And the pricing was not bad either, which was surprising due to the atmosphere and sophistication when stepping inside. :)

Nice place, great for a date night. Definitely a fancier vibe than most barbecue places. The staff was all great. The bartender made a great suggestion to get lamb ribs. I've never had them anywhere else and and they were excellent. I was a little disappointed in the burnt ends. With that being such a KC staple, it lowered my rating to 4 stars. I'm a bit of a barbecue snob. But everything else was great and I'd still suggest checking this place out.

The continuing saga of awful brisket in Kansas City metro. Any meat that is cooked so poorly that it needs a sauce to make it edible shouldn't even qualify as barbecue. Period.
I'm from Texas where brisket is barbecued correctly with just salt and pepper. No sauce required or normally used by Texans. Sad that people in this part of the country think the sauce is needed to eat barbecue. I've tried so many so-called barbecue places in the KC Metro now, and have yet to find one even half as good as the worst Texas BBQ places. Seriously. Even the chain, Bill Millers, in Texas has Jack Stack beaten by a mile! This was straight out terrible, and we won't be back. Ever. No taste in the brisket. The burnt ends were certainly NOT burnt. The cole-slaw I ordered never even made it to the table! Probably a good thing. The best thing on all of our plates were the French fries, which, again, no self-respecting BBQ place in Texas even serves! LOL!

Jack Starters is a five star culinary experience.
Our server Jason was stellar in his care of explaining the menu so we could choose the best food options along with his impeccable customer service.
Emily the front of the house manager came over to our table to greet us and ask about our experience.
The burnt ends, sides, and deserts were excellent. The best carrot cake bar none!
If you are in the Kansas City MO area , we recommend this restaurant highly. Your culinary bbq experience will be awesome.

Good bbq but not great. Ribs were the best. Burnt ends weren’t that good. Sides were good. Beans. Cheesy corn. Potatoes. Bit disappointed tbh.

This is the best Jack Stack to visit and our first recommendation when friends and family visit KC! Their kids menu even includes barbecue specialities! We love the onion rings, burnt ends, pulled pork, Hatfield sandwich, cheesy corn, BBQ beans, and potato bake. They make great drinks as well and their tiny gift shop area allows you to buy and take home their killer BBQ sauce. Its also right across from Union Station, the only WWI Memorial in the US, and walking distance to Hallmark Crown Center. The free trolly picks up at the street above the parking lot and will take you down to the Power & Light District and the River Market for additional entertainment and shopping. Don't miss out on this KC treasure!
