No shade but the service was a bit slow and we had to keep asking for items to go with our meal amd at one point had to go locate our server and it wasn't busy

Amazing food and great service. I got the Kansas City combo with pulled pork, burnt ends, and brisket. I also got baked beans instead of the fries. And a blackberry lemonade! Our server was awesome - we had a group of about 20 and he handled everything so smoothly.

Jack Stack is a Kansas City staple. Great barbecue and great sides. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The burn ends and ribs are delicious. The onion rings are gigantic. If you go with a group, I would highly recommend one of the platters to share. The Pitmaster had a great mix of food with four sides and was more than enough. Service was great. Even if you are on the outside patio, it is covered and heated and very convenient.

I have eaten BBQ in a lot of places and Jack Stack is the kind of place that makes you think about the gap between a good BBQ restaurant and a great one. It's in a converted 1887 freight building in the Crossroads Arts District, and the space feels right for the food, big ceilings, wood everywhere, a fireplace lounge, full bar, actual trains passing by outside sometimes which adds this very Midwest energy to the whole thing.
We made a reservation because someone told us to and that was the right call. Started with some things from the bar while we waited to be seated, and then got into the actual meal. The beef burnt ends were the best thing on the table and I say that knowing the table had lamb ribs on it too. The burnt ends were caramelized and smoky and had this perfect layer of fat running through them, and I ordered extra to take home which I ate standing in a hotel room later that night with no regrets. The lamb ribs are something I didn't know I needed in my life. They're not a BBQ staple most places but Jack Stack does them and they're uniquely flavorful in a way that's hard to describe if you haven't had them. We also got the Roundup which is basically a combination plate with pork spare ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, and the spare ribs in particular were falling off the bone and juicy. The cheesy corn bake is the side everyone talks about and it's deserved, warm globs of cheese in sweet corn and you just keep eating it.
The hickory smoke flavor runs through everything consistently and the portions are generous. It's a bit on the pricier side for BBQ but this is also a full sit-down restaurant with a wine list and craft cocktails. Not a takeout window in a gas station situation. Worth every dollar. The server we had clearly knew the menu well and pushed us toward the right things without being pushy about it, which is a skill not everyone has. If you're visiting Kansas City for the first time and someone asks where you ate BBQ, this is the name you want to be able to say. We finished everything on the table and still seriously considered ordering the s'mores skillet just to see what it was about.

This is a KC staple. There are some great hole in the wall spots, but this place doesn’t miss.

I’m glad we stopped here to eat. We had a taste for smoked barbecue while on a roadtrip and this place did not disappoint. I enjoyed the blackberry BBQ Salmon and fries, the barbecue butter sauced shrimp for an appetizer and a K.C. Lemonade. We also had the K.C. Combo #2 and two orders of chicken tenders and fries with a round of strawberry lemonade for the family. There was 4 of us total present. The restrooms were clean. The ambiance has intimate lighting and still maintains a family friendly environment for all to enjoy. This place was very busy with people lined up outside into the parking lot. So I’m happy that we were able to get a table especially by the fireplace. Whenever we do return to K.C., we will definitely stop by again. Thank you for your gracious service and great quality of food. Keep up the good work!
