We have lived in town for over a decade and never went. We tried tonight. Let’s get the ambiance first. Looks like it was born in the 80s and hasn’t changed. Service was pretty good but a little slow. The food was a massive dud. We got the appetizer platter. Cheese sticks were good but very rich. Onion rings were average at best and the chicken wing were fried chicken wings. No sauce not flavor just a bland fried wing. After the platter we weren’t terribly hungry so my wife had a salad that was average. I ordered the burger because it gets rated as one of the best in town. I ordered it medium, pink in the middle and told the waitress don’t nuke my burger. She assured me they know how to cook meat. Nope, juicy but completely hammered through. Not a drop of color. So this “Steakhouse” lives up to the Chili’s standard of “Why ask me how I want it cooked if you are going to destroy the meat!” I will never come back there are 50-100 place that are better in town.
This place is pretty sweet. The staff was awesome. Very friendly, polite and, even had a few laughs with them. The food was outstanding. We will definitely be back there soon.
I feel like this place caters to a particular type of crowd and it might not be fir everyone. It's a low-key kind of rustic, romantic place with really good, but pricy food.
High quality meat cooked to perfection. Great baked potato, too.
Excellenttttt
The best part of the Ribeye steak dinner I ordered for 49.99 was the raspberry vinaigrette dressing that went on the salad and the appetizers we ordered extra. The salad was okay–nothing I would crave again, and served with no cheese. The steak was grainy and undercooked with very little seasoning no real marbling, but plenty of chewy gristle–blek. We love steak and ribeye is our favorite. We order it everywhere and never waste a bit, but we left this steak on the table. The breaded mushrooms and Gouda Mac-n-cheese bites were BY FAR the stars of the night!!! The building smelled old and musty, but the tables were nice. The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest and smelled bad. But the service was fairly good. We aren’t drinkers. So, I cannot rate their alcoholic beverages. We won’t be back. It’s not worth the price tag or the drive for us. We spent $330 for 7 people to eat a steak dinner without any extras and I left food in a napkin because it was that bad. For the price, pay just a few bucks more and make reservations at Hereford House instead.
Very nice atmosphere kind and courteous host and server

We had my husband's birthday party here. The staff was amazing and the steaks and chicken were delicious. I highly recommend the twice baked potato! Also the sampler appetizer was a hit. We ordered 2 for a table of 11 and everybody got a taste. The onion rings were the bomb. Then the staff brought out a cake I had brought with the candles, serving utensils, plates and forks on a trolly for us. It has a nice old fashion country decor and sits right near the rail road tracks. The trains going by just added to the ambiance. It was definitely worth the drive from Smithville!

Such a lovely evening to be able to try the yummy steaks at this popular restaurant with family. Glad we made reservation and it was full of people when we got there. I ordered the ribeye that came with salad and big twice baked potato. I am usually not a big fan of baked potato but the one I had was the best one I had for a very long time( just forget about the calories!🤣). Everyone was happy with the food and really enjoyed at the restaurant. The price is not insanely high like some restaurants that also serve same type of food within 30 miles.

This was my first time visiting. The food was good. I really liked the egg rolls. The salad was a little wilted. The ranch, which I thought was housemade, tastes like kraft. The only food I got that was hot was the steak. So I do not see myself going back. The waitress rushed to get us our check. And we had split the bill at our table, and she dropped the checks at our table and darted off. Then, when she brought it back, it dropped and ran. No, thank you for visiting. Have a nice evening, nothing. So rude!!! I feel more welcome at other Steakhouses. And I have had better food. So disappointed.

I've never been to Jess and Jims, I just looked up directions, and well, here we are. My coworker loves this place though and you probably will too. I hear good things.
Ms. Debbie went above and beyond to accommodate our group, allowing us to dine in the lounge so our daughter could enjoy the music. The food, particularly the Prime Burger, was outstanding. Highly recommend for great food, outstanding staff, and awesome atmosphere!
