The salmon was delicious! Our waiter couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. We love this place!!!
We had excellent service, the food was amazing, and cocktails were yummy! I would highly recommend! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and truly had a wonderful experience.
Salmon and Caesar salad were delicious ! It was extremely loud and we had difficulty hearing each other at a table for four.
This is a favorite quiet spot for a job candidate interview. Today met all expectations. Andrew has been our server the last two times and does a wonderful job. He's there, pleasant and helpful when you need him and not in the way when you need space. Thank you for a wonderful experience as always!
We were pleasantly surprised that the noise level was low enough for us to carry on conversations during dinner. The food was wonderful, as usual. Our waiter was awesome. JJs is our favorite restaurant in KC, and where we take guests from out-of-town.
What a fantastic anniversary dinner we had this evening! Our server was so sweet and attentive, the glass of wine was wonderful and the calamari is our favorite in town. We had filet and lamb chops - those chops are absolutely to die for. Our cocktails were tasty and we had such a nice time. Thank you all!
Had a celebration with seven people. Christopher was our waiter. Everything was perfect and his service of our table made the night very special.
We come every year for our anniversary, and we're never disappointed. JJ's has held a special place in our lives for nearly 35 years; we love this place!
Steaks were perfect, service was top notch. Asparagus was a little woody. Sides and apps were also perfect.
Outstanding dining experience with expert knowledgeable staff. This is a unique Kansas City restaurant, with great good and the best wine list in region. This is not a chain. It is family owned and managed by Kevin Frantze and his uncle Jimmy Frantze.

Not up to fine dining standards. We had a reservation at 730. We were one of three tables in the entire, eerily empty restaurant. The lighting was very bright with no background music at all. After being told our waiter would be by several times, it took him a half hour to come to our table once he noticed us pouring our own wine out of the bottle someone else had brought us. The staff were all dressed very sloppy. To be fair the other guests were too. I would rate this place slightly under Olive Garden. We left at 815 before ordering to walk over to another restaurant nearby since it was taking so long. On the way out they lied about being the only restaurant that sells liter bottles of Caymus. We had the same bottle at the next place, and I've had it other places also. They tried marking our OpenTable reservation as cancelled I think to prevent the posting of this review, so be suspicious of the high ratings posted here. If you want a nice date spot this isn't it.
Tha grilled sea bass special was amazing!

Came here for date night. From the pictures, we assumed it was upscale, so we dressed nicely. We sat outside because the weather was beautiful, but we wish we hadn't.
The patio has a very casual vibe, and our server was just wearing a t-shirt, which was dirty. It would be fine for drinks and apps, but if you're looking to have a nice dinner, I'd reccomend the dining room.
Food was great, service was good.

Loved the atmosphere! Loved the happy hour appetizers! We ordered pizza, meatballs, mussels, & tacos. My coworker had the mussels and cleaned the bowl she loved them. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I was walked past about 5 times while sitting at the bar until finally I said are yall still serving or what? My coworker was already seated eating her mussels and had grabbed me a water until my arrival and it was like I’d never arrived. I ordered crown & coke (not on happy hour) and it was watered down tasting but I prefer apple crown which they don’t carry. My 2nd round I asked for whatever was on happy hour with coke and let me just say it was delicious it was so smooth it tasted so much better than crown. I asked what it was and Nate told me then showed me the bottle. I was like wow “old forester” is cheaper yet much better then crown. The other guy that was pretty stand off ish the entire time we was there lightened up tremendously and engaged in the conversation. Too bad the energy wasn’t like that the entire time. They lost a star due to that.

We drove in from South Johnson County
September 13th, 2024. We have been going to JJ's since he had the other location. We had not dined here for probably 6 years. The cocktails were good The service was great and it's a very nice place to dine. We were mostly happy with the food. However, we had to wait 45 minutes for our entrees to come out from the kitchen. We ordered carrot cake the chocolate ganache cake to take home. The Carrot cake is fine but the chocolate cake was a miniscule sliver that weighed only 1.9 oz! The charge was $9. That means it costs over $75 a pound. I could send a photo but I don't see a place here to do that. We won't be going back in the near future, for sure.
There are a lot of very nice restaurants between my home off 143rd and Switzer and the Plaza. Next time we want to have a nice dinner out will choose somewhere else to go. Sad.
