Johnny's Donuts is the BEST. It's the only place I'll buy donuts from anymore. A little pricey (about $21 for a dozen glazed) and cash only, but totally worth it. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. I found Johnny's through KC is the Town on YouTube.

All reviews are right, best donuts in the city. Also some reviews mention he may step out, which was the case when I arrived, but he was back right before his sign said he would be. Worth the 10 min wait.

All my life, I never thought of myself as a person who likes donuts. I never sought them out, I didn’t really crave them, and I wouldn’t often choose them. I definitely liked donuts, but not as much as other things. Johnny’s donuts changed that. The reason I wasn’t too crazy about donuts is that I had no idea how good donuts could be. I had the plain glazed donut, and not only was it easily the best donut I’ve ever tasted (no contest, not even close) it changed my entire worldview on what a donut could be. I haven’t had the privilege yet of trying some of their other flavors, but I’m sure they are going to blow my mind. Thank you Johnny’s, for creating what is probably world’s best donut. I can’t wait to try everything else you have to offer.

I can't believe I lived in KC nearly my entire life but had never been to Johnny's until this visit! I can't say enough about the donuts..The glazed twists are delightful! Slightly crispy, golden outside with a light,airy inside that melts in your mouth. Fresh and sweet but not overwhelming. Equally as wonderful were the cherry pies or turnovers (not sure what they're called) We also had a cream cheese filled selection that was also a winner. The menu has something for everyone and every meal...We had a cheeseburger, a tenderloin sandwich, fries and an 8pc order of dark fried chicken only, which came with dinner rolls. EVERY ITEM WAS Fantastic! JUST GO THERE! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Caveats: CASH ONLY. The closest atm is about 3 blocks south. HOURS: open at 630 am and close at 3:30. TAKE-OUT only,no eating area, except the sidewalk. NO FOUNTAIN DRINKS but they offer a wide selection of cold cans and bottles.
Expand your cultural horizons, get out of the suburban bubble and go to the EAST SIDE and get some JOHNNYS!

Johnny really is the best. Very charismatic and more importantly passionate about what he does. Whenever I come in from out of town I will go in at 5am to get donuts. His fryer is already going and out comes the best donuts I have ever had.
Best cherry fritters, best doughnuts and doughnut holes. Lady at front was super nice!!!! Cash only!!
