J's Fish and Chicken Market

When I arrived, he told me ready in two minutes. 30 minutes passed, he said it’s packing. 10 minutes passed still no food! The order were 1 chicken sandwich and gizzards. The other Prospect location is so much better!

I'm a student at UMKC, and every time I have an encounter with this place, the customer service is terrible. I called yesterday asking if I can get an invoice of the order, and both the employee and the manager had an attitude immediately after answering the phone. The manager wasn't even trying to help and was overall rude. I'll never order from J's or eat their food because they don't know how to treat people!

The green beans were disgusting. I literally could not swallow them. The texture was oily and slimy and the taste was awful. I ordered them wanting a vegetable option with the fried fish. The catfish was cold and very bland. I gave two stars instead of one because the weather was very cold and gave the benefit of the doubt that this was the reason for cold food. I will not be ordering here again. Truly a waste of my money.

The fish was pretty good, just a tiny bit too salty for me but that didn't stop me from devouring it because the seasoning was really good. I also had shrimp which wasn't fried quite crispy enough for me. The service... I asked for a honey mustard and was abruptly told that she could only give me ONE and if I wanted MORE I would have to pay. I didn't understand the attitude and I said I asked for A honey mustard and one would be just fine. A sign said to check your order before you go and I moved aside to check. I felt like I was annoying her by doing so.

Monday December 9th, 2024, I ordered a 20 pc party wing, fries, coleslaw, white cake with strawberry, and carrot cake. The fries were extremely soggy and soft. The grease soaked through the bag. Both cakes were INSANELY DRY! I picked it up with my hands and it felt like I was rubbing powder through my fingers it was hard.Those cakes were old and she still served them to us. That was soo disrespectful. Not even 30 seconds later we tried to up grade to the full wings which would have been more money for their business and the lady with NO customer service ability at all tells us it is to late to change it. Nothing was done yet, we just ordered. I am soo tired of places like you all, you want our money no problem but insist on having the lowest standards for black people ( your bill payers). You all have no respect for the community that keeps you there, it's been showing. This is just the first time I said something. I will take my black dollar elsewhere. Food is everywhere, THANK YAH!

I ordered through door dash and i used to LOVE j’s. But I ordered the gizzards and fries and the gizzards were too hard to even bite into and the gizzard tasted days old. The fries on both orders were soggy and stale. Our condiments were forgotten. And to put a cherry on top the chickens breading was not crispy at all. Very disappointed and disgusted. Had to throw the gizzards away all together.

4/5 stars, I ordered via Grubhub and the food arrived nice and hot. ⭐️the cheese fries were delicious with lots of nacho cheese ⭐️ the catfish filet was perfectly crispy and tasted fresh ⭐️ the buffalo sauce was delicious ⭐️

The only downside was the wings were basically flavorless. Good quality wings with juicy meat and crispy but I ordered hot lemon pepper and they tasted pretty plain and lightly breaded. I didn't finish them because they were bland.
