KC Taco Company has easily become my favorite taco spot in the city. The moment I walk in, the staff always greets me with a smile—my waitress even knows to bring me my Sprite and probably some suadero tacos before I even ask.

The food is consistently amazing, but what keeps me coming back just as much is the atmosphere. Everyone here is incredibly friendly and welcoming, not just to me but to every person who walks through the door. It truly feels like a place that values its customers.

I’m genuinely happy to support a locally owned business that puts so much care into great food and great service. Highly recommend!

This restaurant cane recommended from friend. KC Taco is a can’t miss stop if you are in KC. Simple overview. Stopped in the early afternoon. It was quiet in the restaurant but I was quickly greeted and sat in the bar area. My server was friendly and recommended several options. I went with the Birria tacos and Street corn. The birria tacos were superb. The meat was so tender and there wasn’t any of those mystery gristle nuggets of fat that are often found in the meat. The shell was perfectly crisp and the consommé for dipping was good enough to drink. The street corn was also excellent. Perfect balance of each topping and was delivered at the right temperature. Extra napkins required!! I’ll stop here again when traveling through KC. It’s a few notches above the typical taco place and the pricing is very reasonable.

Couldn’t even place an order . Waited on hold for 10+ minutes . Decided to come in. They couldn’t take my order said they were too busy . Even though the tall skinny white girl waiter was just standing there looking at me . So I left .

Not a place that's friendly to groups, despite it being in an area, City Market, that's popular to hang out at.

Tried to stop in for lunch with a party of six and the host told us that we would have to sit together and pay on one check, it was me, another adult and four kids paying their own way, so that didn't work for us. We told the older guy seating us that we'd split four and two to accommodate their rule. He said that's not allowed, even though we said we'd sit separately, so we left.

Restaurant was empty other than one table and one person at the bar at lunchtime, so not sure why they didn't want our business. (I understand the rule, especially if it's set that way in your POS system or for seats on tickets, but how would your computer know we came in the restaurant together?)

Being from Texas I’m serious about my Mexican cuisine. They surpassed all expectations. We stared with the queso, shared the Tinga chimi and street corn. Also had Blue Agave margarita. Our server Kameron was delightful and very attentive!

Some of the greatest (and largest) tacos I've had in the city! Combined with their daily drink specials, I will absolutely be going back. Great service as well. 10/10

Holy moly. Everything was freaking fantastic. Between the two of us we had the chips and both salsas, the street corn, the Cowboy Junkie, a bahn mi taco, the Baja fish taco, and rice and beans. Legitimately the best rice and beans I’ve had at a restaurant. I made love to the street corn, that sauce on it was amazing. The bahn mi taco was my favorite of the two I had, and the husband LOVED the cowboy junkie burrito. Lately I leave a restaurant kind of disappointed and feeling like I overpaid for the quality and quantity of food I got. Not the case here! Well worth what we paid, service was awesome, and the food was exceptional.

The food has NO flavor!!!!!!! I’ve dined here multiple times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt…. But they let me down Every time. I’d never order food from here again. The drinks are good and strong. The food is just not good at all to me. I have to drown their food in salt/pepper and I never do that!! Gentrified Mexican food. Please hire chefs with some SOUL and the spirit of their abuelita!!!!! I hate when I spend money on nasty food because you can’t get that back. I’m not one to complain to the manager or hassle for refunds. Just know their food is very bland before you go.

Friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Quality ingredients used on both cocktail and food menu. Incredible work by the management team!

Best Mexican in KC! Do yourself a favor and start with the not so average queso with all the add ons! Upscale tacos and cowboy burrito are favorites. Hippie cool atmosphere is the cherry on top.

I really love this place and their food. Though at the end we received a postcard with an AI image, I am severely disappointed and I am not sure if I will continue to support this business. Please support real artists and creativity instead of AI, it is ruining opportunities for real life artists as well as the planet (and looks way better).
Edit: it is even more dissapointing to see you turn to using AI after long supporting local artists. I also find asking someone to delete their rating very unprofessional, instead of addressing the issue at hand. I will sadly will not be returning here.

KC Taco Company is fire (as my teenagers say) - seriously one of the best spots in Kansas City. If you want tacos done right, with flavor, creativity, and a good time—not just another meh taco joint—this is where it’s at. Whether you want something bold (hello, birria tacos) or something lighter or more inventive (veggie or fusion‑style tacos), they have you covered. And don’t forget the chilled back vibe and amazing staff…Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Nobody yawns or phone scrolls—they seem to care. Makes a big difference.
