Just great food, service, atmosphere. If you like seafood, get the paella mariscos. While I wish they had a squid ink seafood paella, this is pretty great.

“Barbecue Heaven with a Side of Brisket Bliss”

Kansas City, you’ve officially spoiled me. Q39 (or as I like to call it, BBQ Valhalla) served up what might be the most legendary meatfest I’ve ever experienced. We ordered The Platter—allegedly for 4 to 6 people—but unless your crew includes a football team or you identify as a competitive eater, this thing could easily feed 8. Seriously, it’s like the barbecue version of the loaves and fishes.

Highlights:
• The brisket? Tender, smoky, and so good my dad, who usually eats like a picky bird, was full-on chowing down like he just discovered food.
• The barbecue sauce? Kansas City did not come to play—sweet, tangy, and just the right amount of kick. I’d put it on cereal.
• The platter comes with a glorious sampler of everything, like a BBQ-themed dream sequence.
• Staff? Super friendly. The kind of people who make you feel like you’re family (the good kind, not the kind that argues at Thanksgiving).
• Atmosphere is clean, modern, but still warm and inviting—perfect for meat-induced euphoria.
• Drinks? Strong enough to make you dance but smooth enough that you actually consider doing it.

If you’re in KC and not eating at Q39, what are you even doing with your life?

Loved the happy hour $8 tapas!

Decent food, good service, a little pricey for the value, fun and laid back atmosphere.

Stopped in for lunch with a friend after this spot was recommended to me. It was a unique experience with the tapas, but they didn’t disappoint. The chicken skewer tapas & the shrimp tapas were definitely my favorite. The churos were also to die for!!

One of my favorite places in the Kansas City area. The mussels with chorizo, goat cheese with fig coulis, elote, and the papas fritas are some of my favorite items. They’re sangria pitcher is delicious too.

We ate at La Bodega on New Year's Eve. The food was really good and reasonably priced at $75 each for a pre fixe menu. HOWEVER, BEWARE that they charge 20% sales tax. This seems unreasonably high even if they are in a special taxation district.
EDIT: This issue was resolved promptly to our satisfaction.

Being from Spain it’s rather disappointing that this is the only Spanish restaurant in Kansas City. La Bodega is not only far from the food in Spain but also from other Spanish restaurants in the US.

I understand the tapas concept but some of the dishes are extremely small and don’t resemble the quality that Spanish food has. It should be a crime to serve the 5th division jamón serrano (which they charge at price of gold) or to use FROZEN tortilla de patata!

I understand how the restaurant industry works and how prices are extremely high, but your prices don’t resemble the quality of your food.

Enjoyed a first visit someone treated us to, and because it was so good, a week later we treated another for their birthday! Tapas is probably one of the best ways to spend time enjoying good company, particularly when the food is super delicious. Wait staff shortages plague this place as much as any other these days, so patience is kind of a requirement. That is not to say the wait time will be excessive, just do not expect someone to be standing at your elbow at all times.

Parking: Plan to arrive early so you can find a spot to park nearby.

I've been here quite a few times. The food is always spectacular. Some of the most friendly staff I've met in a restaurant. And despite define dining rather economical.

Good food nice location what more could a person want. Careful upon entering or exiting there's a dropoff slant or stepup that isn't obvious and the exiting door has a pull handle on it which is misleading. Great staff .
