This place is AMAZING. We found it by accident as we were driving through on our way north. Hands down the best vegan soul food I have ever tasted. Collard greens were complex and flavorful, the corn bread was absolutely luscious, and the sauce on the vegan brisket was out of this wold. If they were in Minneapolis I'd eat there every single day. The space was bright and cheerful and the staff was incredibly welcoming. What a treat!

Let me tell you what an amazing birthday breakfast experience I had today! Matties is black excellence at its finest. The establishment is beautiful and charming with a bright, happy and inviting mural with yellow and green hues. There are positive and uplifting words of affirmation that adore the walls. The display of beautiful art from local artist! It's a very friendly, clean, beautful and inviting space. Everyone is welcome to the table. Babe, BABE, the vegan food is next level!! Let me tell you, I had a vegan sausage burrito! All the flavors of sausage, mushrooms, potatoes, etc and love exploded in my mouth! What in the world!!!This food is sinfully delicious, delectable, scrumptious, finger licking good. I had the banana cream cake for dessert and I fell in love. Lord, It was light, fluffy and fireeee. Even if you are not vegan, you will enjoy the food. I told the owner, I could tell it was made with ❤️. I salute Matties for thinking outside the box with vegan food for the soul! 10/10 RECOMMEND! The Owner Leonda was kind and welcoming. This was my first visit to Mattie’s Food, coming from Alabama! With that said, she was very informative of the restaurant’s menu and Veganism all together ?. My plate came out packed with delicious, flavorful food. Went out emptied, cleared. The Feed My Soul Bowl definitely fed me physically and soulfully. Thank you to the Owner and the Staff for an amazing experience. You all definitely represented for Mrs. Mattie well. Mattie's Foods is hands down the BEST in Kansas City! Since finding out my daughter has Alpha Gal Syndrome she has been severely restricted on what and where she can eat. Mattie's is a 100% vegan restaurant. No risk of exposure to mammalian meat or meat byproducts, cross contamination, or fumes from cooking meat. And ya'll!! This food was out of this world!!! Mattie's crew is the sweetest, too! They could tell how worried my daughter was to get sick and told her how what was in all the food and reassured her that she was in good hands. We will definitely be going back on our next trip to KC!

It was somewhat difficult to hear the person talking to me, but other than that, it was a pleasant experience.
