Excellent food, the staff was attentive despite being clearly on the tail end of a major rush.
This place is great! While it looks fancy, the staff are laid back and cool and the food was GREAT. Our party of four loved all our dishes and the drinks were amazing
The service and food were excellent! I will definitely return.
My first time going after relocating across the street. Of course the food is delicious! The mussels were absolutely massive. I couldn’t get enough of the shrimp, and the beef tibs as the main course capped the meal off just right.
Yes the food is fantastic, but holy moly, the service was out of this world! Everyone was so attentive, wildly friendly, and really set the mood the moment we walked in. I can’t wait to eat here again.
We really enjoyed the place. We ate from the Caribbean Menu, and we will try the Ethiopian Menu next time. It is a little on the pricey side, so just know that going in. Excellent place.
Pleasant dining but PLEASE DO NOT bring extra eating utensils for everyone at my table to be chopping off my dessert ever again! I never gave permission for that. And don't even ask because I don't like to share my food or eating other's unless it's an appetizer--that's just me. Thank you.
This place is incredible. The Salmon Tibs was incredible, and the service was great as well. Rum selection absolutely off the charts astounding. Highly highly recommend.
Vegetarian options: There were a variety of veggie dishes, and a ton of veggie sides. Really great.

I’m disappointed that the Asmara pasta came with different noodles. It’s generally spaghetti noodles. It also was a small portion for the price. The last couple of times I’ve had the Asmara pasta, it hasn’t tasted the same.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Mesob Restaurant on New Year’s Eve. This is an annual tradition I share with my sister, and this year, it was completely ruined by poor service and unprofessional behavior.
We both ordered the exact same meal: red snapper. I even told the waitress that my sister could have my plantains because I didn’t want them. After waiting over an hour, we finally asked for our food to be packaged to go since it was taking so long. When they brought the to-go bags, they completely left out my meal—even though it was the same as my sister's, and the conversation about swapping plantains happened directly in front of the waitress.
To make matters worse, the total for our order was $92 for two drinks, my sister’s appetizer (a salad), and ONE red snappers. My sister left $95 to cover the bill, yet they had the audacity to claim that we didn’t pay the full amount for our food. The lack of organization and accountability from the staff was unacceptable.
This entire experience was incredibly frustrating and disheartening. It completely ruined what should have been a joyful celebration. Mesob’s lack of communication, timeliness, and professionalism turned our night into a disaster.
I will not be coming back, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. Do betteR

I have tasted most of the menu and done a couple flights. I’ve loved everything I’ve had and service is usually top notch. Highlights are jerk ribs, conch, oxtail, the vegetarian platter, shrimp and grits, mushroom rice with the spicy slaw, the butternut squash soup, and of course the best tasting rum punch in Kansas City.

A nice restaurant serving Caribbean and Ethiopian food. A bit pricey for the atmosphere/vibes but certainly the food was good! Our server nice but seemed a pretty new and not very knowledgeable on the dishes when we asked questions. The Tej, aka honey wine, was very interesting- almost a smokiness to it, definitely worth trying. The crab cakes were amazing and the fritters were great too which a good kick. The beef tips were one of our favorites. The lamb was a little tough. Overall we had a good time and would recommend.

Got carry out: bao buns, jerk ribs, crab cakes and conch.
1. The actual buns were dry, meat was okay and 2 types of onions were completely unnecessary as there was more of them than meat and sauce.
2. Jerk ribs were tough and dry as well. Seasoning wasn't good on them, pasta that came with it was really good as were the simple green beans.
3. Crab cakes were the best thing we ordered. Full of Crab, sauce was very complimentary to them.
4. Conch was good as well. Seasoning on batter had a little kick and wasn't too thick. Green pesto like sauce was good too.
Given what we ordered it's a toss up as to whether we'd return/order again especially given we spent $100.

My husband and I enjoyed a flight of rum, conch, and smothered plantain during happy hour. Absolutely loved the conch! Very flavorful and mouth watering! Can’t wait to go back!
