If you gotten the name, you're going to live the place. Live music, chill people, late nights. Looking forward to returning. Thank me later.

There's a concert venue upstairs and a bar downstairs. Prices are average. Service is excellent. The place is dimly lit. The bathroom is clean! The regular clientele is alternative/punk. You'll be surprised at how chill it is.

Myself and my industry friends got of work and went to the minibar for some late night after work beverages and had a very rude experience. We were told last call at 2:30am by the bartender which we already had drinks so we were like let's just finish our existing cocktails and call it a night. At 2:35am five minutes after last call we started getting yelled at by the bartender to get out. We thought this very odd due to last call being just called five minutes prior so we questioned this and proceeded to get yelled at even more. So we left and all of us agree not a very hospitable place to ever visit again. Definitely would not recommend my patrons to check this place out.

Unfortunately and honestly this review is not about the whole bar. Didn't even get to stick around and see. Had my physical ID and almost 30yrs old but...Door guy picks and chooses and then legit will joke about a person and why he did or didn't id them to the people behind you while you're in eyesight and ear shot. It's cool to do your job but to be unfair and even joke about it? Not cool.. plus you can see literally the whole bar from your chair. Like anybody's gonna try to pull something. And this sucks extra for me because I was someone who's gone to record bar since I was like 15 16 for shows when it was in old Westport; I'm 28 now and this one door guy was arrogant enough when I see a show is at Minibar next time I'll call ahead to see if he's working the door. Won't spend money with a guy like that gating your entrance....?It was an important show and I drove a long way to hear this guy be a jerk and rub it in this guy's face.*Side note he lied and said they only have a tavern license which clearly I can see is untrue now because I can review food which I didn't because I've only eaten at Record Bar***Might wanna check him at least on that. We were hungry too and ended up going somewhere else even though I planned on drinking and had my id.

I love seeing all the local punk bands in this venue be 50 people in the room and you know everybody

Geared for locals, I knew going in that this place wasn't going to be a five star night club. It is, however, in my opinion, the, "Trubador", of Kansas City. A lot of great bands have been discovered here...

First time attending a show here. Came to see Dead on a Sunday. It is a very small venue. Intimate is the correct term. The place is great for small up and coming acts. With two bars to keep attendees happy. Will definitely come here again.

Nice joint to catch local music. Always good diversity among performers. Friendly service and a healthy selection of beer and spirits.

I came by for a show. I was in from out of town and don't venture out often. I didn't know anyone and felt a bit, um, awkward at first. They had my preferred beer if I were going to partake, and I decided to do just that. The gent behind the bar, Spencer, was an awesome location "host" (I'm gonna call him that). He was attentive in his tiny bar space and accommodating with what he had available to him. Because I don't partake in the beers too often I decided to slow myself down for a while and switch up to Shirley Temples. I have got to admit, hands down THE BEST Shirley Temple I've ever had! Granted it was sans maraschino cherries (as I prefer) but Spencer meddled up some lime and put it in a real glass, serving up a supreme mocktail as far as I'm concerned. Being that I had been to a show earlier show that day, I also have to mention how on point the sound was! Incredible sound considering the size of the space etc. Good vibes, good beverages, good sounds. What else could a lady ask for? If I'm ever round these parts again, I am likely to stop in and check the place out, just to stop in for a Spencer Temple lol!

The show was slated for 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM as indicated on their Instagram page (this photo was taken the day after the show, showing the 8PM start time). Unfortunately, upon our arrival at 7:45 PM, we discovered that the performance had already commenced and it concluded before 9:30 PM. All seats had been occupied by the time we arrived, and the dim lighting made it quite a challenge to find a suitable standing spot without causing any disruption to the performing comedians on the small stage. This situation was disappointing, especially since I had paid $114 in purchasing 6 tickets for myself and a group of friends who were experiencing the town for the first time.
