The atmosphere catches your attention right as you come in. Very unique. The staff are really nice, smiling, well informed and attentive. The food is excellent. We had the CA roll which was nicely done. The tartare was very unique. Yummy but a little messy to wrap your own. The cod is one of the best I've ever eaten in KC. That alone will bring me back. We all shared the brownie, crispy outside, gooey in. Warm and yummy. Their wine list is paired very nicely with their menu. Lots of trendy restaurants in KC lately that are just so so, this one is a keeper.Parking: They have their own lot next to their building

I had the duck and a sake flight. It was delicious and the flight was super interesting. My husband had the salmon. The menu is more set up for sharing, but the 2 dishes we had were full servings. It's also farm table seating. Meaning long tables they sit multiple parties at.Service was wonderful. Atmosphere was stunning.Highly recommend reservations. We got the brownie dessert, this wasn't my favorite and really expensive for $15. The video is of the creme Brule (not the brownie)

SO DELICIOUS, great ambiance, and leave room for dessert! The restaurant has a very modern feel to it with long tables which are great for accommodating larger groups. It was also very easy to walk in with a larger group. However, our group was not super happy with the staff - though helpful they forgot our orders a few times and weren't the most attentive. For the food we started with some appetizers - wings, truffle tuna roll and crab pasta. The crab pasta was definitely a stand out and really loved the sauce (though wish it maybe had a bit more spice). The truffle roll was also so great with the truffle flavor coming out very subtly. For the main, I ordered the Filipino salmon which was cooked to perfection! The sauce was so great and paired very well with the salmon. I also loved the side of Brussels sprouts which were so crispy and great source of veggies with your meal. The star of the show was the brownie in the desserts. It was so perfectly warm and gooey with great flavors coming from the sesame. The crème brûlée was also very very creamy and very fun to watch.

I was here for restaurant week and loved every course. The edamame toast and sweet potato roll stole the show. Gorgeous space. Would recommend sitting at the Chef's counter. Will definitely be back!

Every single dish we had at Noka hit it out of the park. Great flavors in every dish. Drinks were very good too. Service seems like they’re still getting a few kinks worked out but were overall attentive. We will absolutely go back. One of our favorite meals in Kansas City.

Incredible! This is an absolute must visit for anyone in KC. Easily one of my most favorite restaurants in the city.Food was exceptional. While this is a nice night out, the quality and perfection of the food makes it worth the cost, not one doubt about that. Not something easily replicated or where you think it wasn't worth your money. The taste of many dishes left me closing my eyes and just enjoying and savoring the flavors.Cannot wait to go here again. Atmosphere was calming and relaxed though community seating it still felt private enough for us but gave the opportunity to talk w your neighbors if so desired. Staff was excellent and just as warm as the ambiance.Highly recommend, can't stop talking about it and if you're considering it just do it!

Tonight my partner and I celebrated an early valentines. 10/10 would recommend. We made reservations online but didn’t need them. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service from a man who I didn’t catch a name from. He was very knowledgeable, explained everything I had a question about, and gave great recommendations, The food was exciting, every bite I took was thought provoking and flavors that shouldn't pair came together so beautifully. We got the noka wedge salad, the filet, the sweet potatoe jewles, and the togarashi brownie. The salad had a unique flavor with the dressing and the lardon. The steak was cooked perfectly and the broccoli was so flavorful. The sweet potatoes paired with the chocolate was sweet enough to be a dessert and just as delicious. The brownie was the most interesting. Brownie with ice cream topped with spices and Carmel was the most interesting desert I’ve had so far. I can’t wait to go back and try something different!

From the attention to details on the decor minimalist Japanese style with earthy tones to the elegant stone ware dishes, everything is set up to have a fine dining experience. We had several plates to share both time we went and everything was well prepared and plated. I particularly enjoyed the tenderness and flavors of both fish dishes we had the Miso Cod and the Filipino Salmon. The first time we went we sat at the bar and had the pleasure to talk with the Chef and Owner of Noka, really approachable and kind. The second time we sat at The communal table and got to meet new people. Both experience were nice for different reasons.I am looking forward to come back for a new occasion and try new dishes.

TL:DR - 5 * food, 4 * service My honey decided to surprise me with dinner to Noka tonight for Valentine's Day, and to say I was excited was an understatement. It's been on my list since they opened so this was a long time coming. We had reservations for 7 pm and we were seated promptly at one of the communal tables. Kind of wish we'd been sat at one of the 2 tops but the communal environment was fine. Since it was Valentine's Day, people kept to themselves. We did notice it was a little empty for Valentine's Day, but this was the day of the chiefs parade and I assume some folks decided to stay home, after all that happened. And again, communal tables aren't ideal for a date. I did end up knocking off a star for the start of our meal. No one came to give us water or take our order for at least 10 mins. At that point the manager, I assume, asked if we'd been helped and she grabbed our waitress. Not sure what happened there but my BF and I were both disappointed by the service at such a high end establishment. After that, service greatly improved but it did start our very special dinner on the wrong foot, Once we put in our drink orders and a Yamaimo order, the pace really picked up. I got the soju and my honey got a whisky #2. We both enjoyed our drinks. Neither of us likes nori and were dismayed to discover that the yamaimo was a norimaki. However, maybe because of the mix of flavors, or because of the treatment of the nori, the ocean-y funk that we both dislike so much was extremely subtle. It was kind of a shock for us both that we enjoyed the dish after the initial impression and we were relieved we hadn't ordered a dish we didn't want to eat. We ultimately ordered the mushroom roll, edamame toast, Japanese carbonara (a v-day special), XO shrimp fried rice, and sweet potato jewels, finishing with a togarashi brownie. Everything we had was very good but my highlights of the night were the edamame toast, the fried rice and the brownie. The toast was just everything you could want in a few bites of food. An interesting mix of ingredients that I could never have imagined. The fried rice was such an elevated version of fried rice and the pickled Asian pear made it taste incredibly complex. The brownie was such a different flavor combination, and the togarashi made for almost a spicy Mexican chocolate vibe, and the brownie alone was incredible. I don't really know how to describe the brownie. So different and really delicious. Weakest dish for me was the mushroom roll, it was perfectly fine but not nearly as interesting as everything else. The carbonara was another surprise on the menu as it had a BUNCH of roe on it, another thing my bf and I don't really like. But, like the yamaimo, the balance of flavors and the use of ingredients made the roe a very approachable addition. The sweet potato's were also good, but I think I was expecting them to taste more interesting than they did but I can't complain because they tasted great. Ultimately we really enjoyed the experience and agreed we would both be happy to come back. But again, the first impression with the server started the evening on a low note, but she definitely made up for it. So if you are looking for an interesting and sexy meal, check out Noka!
