We had dinner at Novel while my friends were in town, and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Kansas City. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely welcoming.
The food was incredible. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. You can tell there’s real intention behind the menu. The drinks were just as impressive, well crafted and perfectly balanced.
In my opinion, Novel is easily one of the absolute best restaurant options in Kansas City. If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on service, food, and overall experience, this is it.

The food at this restaurant is top notch. Above and beyond most all KC restaurants. We had a lovely dinner. We started with butternut squash soup and tartare. Both were so good, it was insane. For dinner we had scallops and the lamb, just INCREDIBLE. Everything on our plates was just delicious. I'm quite sure no matter what you ordered.It would be perfect. It just top of the top notch restaurants.

Stopped in during KC Restaurant week. This was our first time here. We were warmly greeted upon entry and sat promptly. Our server Shelby was great. The course selections for this menu were varied and should appeal to most people. The space is nice and energetic. We will return for their regular menu.

Just ate here for the first time for Kansas City Restaurant week and it was so amazing! Nit one bad bite was had. What really took this place from great to amazing was the staff! So friendly and so kind! The food was delicious and my friends and I look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu.
My husband and I were visiting KC for NYE, and our dinner reservation at Novel was the first plan we made for this trip. We were so excited to have the opportunity to eat and celebrate there.
Once we were seated, we asked our server about portion sizes. Rather than explaining them, he tried to upsell us as much as possible, making it hard to know exactly what was right for us.
We placed our order, and our starters (salad and Hamachi crudo) were delicious. But our second course of pasta and chicken roulade (main entree) were lukewarm. Our side of fried cauliflower was the only hot dish that was actually hot. We would have said something to our server, but he never checked on us while we ate nor asked how everything was. We expected more out of the service considering the price point.
