We are on our way home to Western Canada. We came off the beaten path to hopefully find some good homemade bread and baking. We were beyond disappointed - the bread was $6 and with about $1.50. All we could taste was molasses. The butter tarts (4 of them) were tasteless and not worth $4 each. Unbelievably expensive for not-very-good quality.

The best place ever to get a fresh juice and bakery snacks? they even have a bar in there! Conveniently located in River Market, so wear your walking shoes and head over to all the opera house for a drink to have while you’re exploring a gem the city has to offer.

It looked like it would be great…but I’ll never know. Walked in twice when we were walking around the City Market. No one was ever there to wait on me. First time a guy was behind the counter and did not even acknowledge my presence after I waited for 4-5 minutes (no one else was even close to the counter but he was down at one end looking like he was trying to hide….maybe he doesn’t like to work!) and the second time no one was up at the counter at all, I looked around and never saw anyone. Not sure how this place stays in business.
The biscuit was seriously delicious. I had sausage and egg and cheese and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in a while.
Haven’t been here in a while. It has always had high priced decent food and my meal was ok today. The most annoying thing was a person that was on a web meeting without using headphone or on her phone the ENTIRE time I was there. She was so loud and ruined the atmosphere. I am not positive but she seemed to be an employee. I will not be coming back.
Here as a tourist visiting City Market and saw this coffee place and decided to give it a try. Separate areas to order coffee and food. Asked if they had a breakfast quesadilla and was told no, but they had a breakfast burrito. I said, that’s okay i’ll just go with the sausage egg and cheese biscuit. When I got the order, it was the burrito with potatoes. When I told the waiter that wasn’t what I ordered, the girl who took the order originally came over and said the manager said they would not remake the order. I said I didn’t want to eat the burrito as it was not what I ordered. The manager came over and I could tell he was p***d. He finally told the girl to go ahead and remake the order. I could tell the girl felt bad, but was only doing what the manager told her to do. So then my date goes over to the register and says he wants a credit for the difference since the burrito was twice the price of what I ordered. Initially, the manager refused and was extremely rude, with no customer service whatsoever. However, my date refused to leave until he finally gave him the credit. If we had not already had other good experiences from others here in Kansas City, this would have left a very bad impression. I would only recommend if you enjoy subpar food and are a glutton for punishment!
Looked so different.....and was it ever! No greeting....at all. Found a table...the menu stated to order at the bakery counter. A disinterested young man who ironically was on the phone to his boss saying "everything was fine" looking at a line of people!!! He gave coffee cups and we were told to go to another counter to get it. Still no smile....we waited half an hour for a very average eggs Benedict..ham still had skin on.it wasn't hot, my friend had the Reuben which was better. Then the waitress came out eating her food at the end of the counter. The bathroom was unclean and I related to the waitress there was no loo paper she thanked me and continued a conversation with a customer. Really disappointed ?
I have visited about every coffee shop in Kansas City downtown and this one is one of my favorites with so much inside surprise. Ice cream, food, bar, as well as coffee and drinks. It is close to City Market, has great biscuits and gravy and lots of coffee drinks.
If Kyle is the owner and she knows so little about dogs and when they are to be neutered….. I wouldn’t spend a nickel there.
When the Kansas City animal shelter is over capacity and animals are dying from lack of resources and homes…having a co owner write something so judgmental about the rescues in the trenches trying to save lives…beyond belief.

Had a breakfast burrito and hash browns, which were awesome. Ambiance is collective and fun, and everything is well spaced out.

We were staying downtown KC March 7-8, 2023 and especially wanted to visit the Arabia Steamboat Museum. However, we wanted coffee and nowhere within the museum building was there any coffee even though surrounded by shops and other businesses. So out side we went and found the Opera House. This place is like 5 shops in one building. Coffee shop, restaurant, bakery, bar, entertainment. This all left us a little confused. We wanted coffee and a pastry since it was around lunchtime. We were directed to the coffee shop, but they had almost no pastry at all. We got our coffee and went over to the bakery. There they had just cakes and told us to go back to the coffee shop to get scones. What? Diligently we went back to check again, nope nothing. Then grabbed a table to sip our coffee a' la carte. This is probably the busiest place in the entire River Market area. Very interesting decor and ambiance.
Ignore all the bad reviews below, this local bakery is badass! First of all everything is made in house from scratch. There is only 1 baker, her name is Annie and she is INCREDIBLE!Her macaroons are to die for! 6 different flavors & THEY ARE HUGE!! They have seasonal flavors of cheesecake which is hard to find locally. I recently fell in love with the granola bars, Annie also makes from scratch, Tropical Fruit & Trail Mix have been my go-to flavors when the restaurant is super busy on the weekends during the Farmers Market.
Such a cool vibe here!
