The best place ever to get a fresh juice and bakery snacks? they even have a bar in there! Conveniently located in River Market, so wear your walking shoes and head over to all the opera house for a drink to have while you’re exploring a gem the city has to offer.

It looked like it would be great…but I’ll never know. Walked in twice when we were walking around the City Market. No one was ever there to wait on me. First time a guy was behind the counter and did not even acknowledge my presence after I waited for 4-5 minutes (no one else was even close to the counter but he was down at one end looking like he was trying to hide….maybe he doesn’t like to work!) and the second time no one was up at the counter at all, I looked around and never saw anyone. Not sure how this place stays in business.

Just witnessed an employee losing his mind on a customer because the customer found a jagged piece of plastic in their food. We were just getting coffee, the drinks and the food are separate, but this employee was accusing the customer of lying and trying to kick them out. They didn't want their money back or anything... It was so weird. The owner finally came out and apologized to the customer but they still left looking like they were about to cry. I don't know why someone would make that up if they didn't want anything not even a refund?! We usually get coffee here but not food. Won't be coming back for anything as it's very uncomfortable to not know if the staff is going to flip out on you or even if the food is safe to eat.

The biscuit was seriously delicious. I had sausage and egg and cheese and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in a while.

Haven’t been here in a while. It has always had high priced decent food and my meal was ok today. The most annoying thing was a person that was on a web meeting without using headphone or on her phone the ENTIRE time I was there. She was so loud and ruined the atmosphere. I am not positive but she seemed to be an employee. I will not be coming back.

Here as a tourist visiting City Market and saw this coffee place and decided to give it a try. Separate areas to order coffee and food. Asked if they had a breakfast quesadilla and was told no, but they had a breakfast burrito. I said, that’s okay i’ll just go with the sausage egg and cheese biscuit. When I got the order, it was the burrito with potatoes. When I told the waiter that wasn’t what I ordered, the girl who took the order originally came over and said the manager said they would not remake the order. I said I didn’t want to eat the burrito as it was not what I ordered. The manager came over and I could tell he was p***d. He finally told the girl to go ahead and remake the order. I could tell the girl felt bad, but was only doing what the manager told her to do. So then my date goes over to the register and says he wants a credit for the difference since the burrito was twice the price of what I ordered. Initially, the manager refused and was extremely rude, with no customer service whatsoever. However, my date refused to leave until he finally gave him the credit. If we had not already had other good experiences from others here in Kansas City, this would have left a very bad impression. I would only recommend if you enjoy subpar food and are a glutton for punishment!

Looked so different.....and was it ever! No greeting....at all. Found a table...the menu stated to order at the bakery counter. A disinterested young man who ironically was on the phone to his boss saying "everything was fine" looking at a line of people!!! He gave coffee cups and we were told to go to another counter to get it. Still no smile....we waited half an hour for a very average eggs Benedict..ham still had skin on.it wasn't hot, my friend had the Reuben which was better. Then the waitress came out eating her food at the end of the counter. The bathroom was unclean and I related to the waitress there was no loo paper she thanked me and continued a conversation with a customer. Really disappointed ?

I have visited about every coffee shop in Kansas City downtown and this one is one of my favorites with so much inside surprise. Ice cream, food, bar, as well as coffee and drinks. It is close to City Market, has great biscuits and gravy and lots of coffee drinks.

It was not a busy day here and our food was delivered cold to us. The ketchup was sour... if it was served hot, we would have enjoyed it more. Overall, very dissatisfied

Nice location, beautiful weather , personable staff... now only thing left for them to do is to knock this damn smoothie out the park ... which they failed at miserably.Got the berry one... ADDED BANANA.. it was still a watery, Watery, mess..could have just ordered a juice.. but then again i guess I did.

I love this place. Conveniently located directly at a streetcar stop, this place is always packed on the weekends for breakfast. The entrance on the corner of 5th and Walnut brings you into the cafe/food area, and the entrance a bit further west on 5th is the ice cream area. They have delicious milkshakes and sundaes and a fun assortment of candies (even freeze dried treats). I love a good banana split, and this one really did the trick. They're open until 8 on most nights to get a summer night ice cream! To order a drink, you order at the bar immediately inside the corner entrance. To order food, you head to the back corner where there's another order window. You get a number and then seat yourself in the large dining area. There's silverware and water cups by the order window. I am obsessed with the biscuit breakfast sandwiches - I love a crunchy crispy biscuit. I am always dreaming of the thick and fluffy pancakes - definitely add blueberry compote!

I jump for juices! Wow, what a wonderful discovery that there is a closer and cheaper spot for freshly made juice, and it happens to be hidden in plain sight! Opera House is a Jack of all Trades and apparently a master of juices! Right when you walk in, no need to venture further, to your left is the coffee bar and also where you can order those glorious juices. On our last visit, the line was short and the smiles were long once we entered the sort of half dive / half coffee shop (but a whole lot of local). That made the waiting in line experience so much better than how congested this fairly large place can get on a busy Saturday or Sunday. Regardless of the eccentric atmosphere, the juices were top knotch. My boyfriend opted for the Green Juice, while I went with the Red Juice. Both were equally fresh and balanced and zippy from the lemon. We really enjoyed both of them immensely

The Hubby and I love coffee so we were excited about trying this place. This place was terrible. The staff was rude. The Hubby's mocha or "chocolate mocha latte" as they called it tasted like watered down hot chocolate. I asked the cashier if they could remake it and it tasted even worse. We threw away both coffees. He actually decided to walk down to Thou Mayest and buying a coffee there instead. My daughter had a match bubble tea and she took a few sips and we had to toss it. This kid loves her boba so you can imagine how bad it was. I had a vanilla iced latte with oat milk and it was okay. I can't believe how busy this place was. There was a few people that were there before us that complaint about not receiving their drinks. A woman before me said that they had forgot to make her tea. I'm not sure about the food since we didn't have anything but drinks. Not returning here again. I'm not sure why people like this place.

Came at the recommendation of many locals but this was a total bust in my opinion. This place does coffee and food as separate ordering so my cousin and I split up to hopeful cut the waiting time down.. unfortunately it still took over an hour to receive 3 coffees and three basic breakfast sandwiches. One of our coffees was also given to another guest and we have to defend our case to get another. The product was nothing special for the wait time. I go out of my way to support local business but this place certainly needs some additional help or an expedited process for takeout orders
