My friend and I visited this place for a night out and we stayed almost the whole night. They had 1 dollar shot until a certain time. I thought the shot is going to be disgusting but it tasted surprisingly good. We had more shots before getting drinks. Drinks are not the strongest but it is reasonably priced for a gay bar.

The music was great. Second floor is cute. There were drag shows too and the drag queens were amazing. Nice decoration and amazing vibe. What a great introduction to the KC gay scene. Would definitely want to visit again.

So I’m very picky about aesthetics when it comes to bars, clubs, and restaurants because I value ambiance as much as the quality of the product. AND QKC DELIVERS. From the disco balls on the ceiling, to the gold sparkling DJ booth, to the absolutely gorgeous murals, to the quaint upstairs quiet speakeasy where I like to go to chill by myself or with a friend, to the absolutely massive and comfortable (and warm in the winter) back patio (with a centered platform where I can dance like a crazy person and no one cares!!), Q is literally my favorite place to go any day of the week, alone or with friends. I love it because when I go alone, I often make new friends!

As a business owner myself, I know how hard it is to curate a space perfectly and also provide high quality drinks and service, and Q delivers in a way that impresses me so much!! Thankfully, it’s only a few blocks away from my office in Westport, so I often go after a long week to decompress!

As a Queer woman engaged to a straight male partner and being femme presenting, my sexuality often feels invisible. Which sucks. But not when I’m at Q! I feel equally seen and equally safe. Everyone (customers and staff and owners) are kind, respectful, and just the perfect amount of fun where I can blow off steam on the dance floor or just chill upstairs or outside when I need some decompression time.

As a BIPOC woman at 35 years old, I also love how (depending on what day and the time of day) I always see people of all ages and all races just sharing joy in this beautiful space. Especially in today’s political climate—having a space for Queer and minority joy is so important! I also love that allies are welcomed, because I bring my partner sometimes and he’s equally at home there and welcomed and celebrated!

I could go on and on, but literally I can’t speak highly enough of Q. My business literally pays to have marketing in their online newsletter because I want more of their customers coming to my office because they’re so amazing!

Thank you so much for creating this safe, fun, welcoming, Queer environment for Kansas City!!!

Look, you can get a drink anywhere but finding a place that is so welcoming is hard to find. Every time we've gone, there's been a different DJ and that really creates a unique vibe which I appreciate.

Love love love this place. There’s a lot more women compared to other gay bars in the area which makes it feel a little more sapphic-centric ;) Always a good time at Q

10/10 no notes. Drinks were fantastic, music was great, and all the rooms were dope, from the patio to the back room to the room upstairs. Would 1000% come back

Best LGBTQ+ bar. Lots of security, safe space. Drink prices are reasonable. They play great music! Clean and working restrooms!

Love the layout of the place! It’s really nice to have a queer centered place in the middle of Westport. Great music, amazing drinks. The upstairs has plenty of seating if you decide to take a break and rest your legs. I can always count on having a fantastic time at Q

What a beautiful bar full of young people having fun. Note: Almost all seemed to be in their twenties to early 30s on the Friday night I was there.

There are many different rooms with a nice focus on sitting and engaging with friends. DJ was very good and staff were very friendly at the door and behind the bars.

Always a good time. Awesome patio. All the staff are cool. Prices are the cheapest of any of the gay bars I go to. They do something event and them-wise different almost every night they’re open.

Q Kansas City is truly a gem in the heart of the city! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed by both the staff and the vibrant, inclusive atmosphere. The drinks are top-notch, the music always sets the right vibe, and there’s a great balance between laid-back comfort and high-energy fun.

What stands out is the sense of community — Q isn’t just a bar, it’s a gathering place where people from all walks of life can come together, celebrate, and feel at home. Whether you’re stopping by for happy hour, a night out with friends, or one of their special events (like a book launch), you’ll leave with a smile and probably a few new connections. Thank you to Q Kansas City for providing a safe and brave space for much-needed intentional conversations surrounding the new book, Surviving & Thriving as a Gay Black Man.

Q Kansas City has set the bar (pun intended!) for nightlife, hospitality, and inclusivity. Can’t wait to come back!

Love going to Q, especially for karaoke on Sunday nights! It’s such a fun atmosphere, the host does more than just say “next”. She’s engaging and does fun stuff like has everyone get up and dance. Drinks are great too!

Q is Kansas City's premiere LGBTQ club! It offers something for everyone and is very diverse across gender, race, and sexuality. It sports a very gorgeously decorated interior, especially upstairs in the quieter cocktail lounge area. The back patio is also a respite from the wildness on the packed dance floor! The DJs and bartenders are amazing as well! This is the best queer night you'll have in KC!
