I called at 9:00 trying to place a pickup and they said you can only order in location at that time that they would refuse to accept a phone order even though I have done that with them multiples times at that time before. Nowhere does it state online or on the website I couldn’t do so. The guy on the phone was really rude and short. Place needs better customer service and needs to adjust there hours accordingly if they won’t be taking order past the time listed on Google.

Food is excellent. On par with some of the most expensive Chinese restaurants. Bite into the chicken and it’s all white meat chicken with every bite. Excellent flavoring. The rangoons are generously filled and delicious. Nothing here is skimped. Prices are excellent. From a food quality to taste ratio I have not found a better Chinese restaurant in Kansas City. Highly recommended.

Ordered take out cause normally this place is good. Get home after driving an hour (30 there 30 back more like 45 with traffic) my food is wrong I call and ask for a refund on the things they messed up..... offered half my money back if I couldn't bring the food back. I could bring it back but now I have to figure out dinner and add an extra hour on to my drive to get a full refund. After fighting with the "boss" I finally get my 18$ back..

Avoid coming here if you can. I previously held Rice House in very high regard, recommended it all the time and ate there myself pretty frequently when I lived in the area. Last night I took my mom here to have a dine in experience at rice house. I ordered the beef lo mein, and my mom ordered the beef and broccoli. When my beef lo mein arrived, within two bites I realized it was just microwaved, really scolding hot in some places and literally cold in others. I called over our server, who was an older woman, and I very politely (I’m afraid of confrontation most times, and I was practicing standing up for myself) made her aware that my food was cold and I’d like to send it back in exchange for some fresher food. She then went and got who I can only presume is the kitchen manager, who came out and asked me “what’s going on”. I very politely tell him the story again, this time more nervous because as im explaining that my food is cold in some spots and really hot in others, this man is rolling his eyes at me. He then proceeds to raise his voice at me, saying that “they don’t do that at rice house. We don’t microwave at rice house”. I wanted to cry so bad, he went on to say that “restaurant isn’t Walmart, you can’t return food” and if I wanted something else I’d be charged, as well as still have to pay for the cold noodles I received. The way he spoke to me was truly unacceptable, I am a very quiet 23 year old girl and I very rarely have to stand up for myself like this. I’ve never been spoken to with such disgust and disregard by an employee in my life, and I was extremely apologetic the entire time I was explaining that my $15 lo mein was served to me half microwaved and cold. He told me I was wrong, that I was making stories up with a raised voice in front of the entire dining room. It was mortifying. I was so embarrassed. He refused to work with me on coming to a solution, and the only way I could have was if I myself had also raised my voice and shifted to a more disrespectful tone, which I really really did not want to do because the situation really didn’t require it. So I let him storm away from me instead of trying to defend my case further. And was charged for the full, cold plate of lo mein. It was truly mortifying. Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant in this day and age, and I want to cry just retyping all of this because it was so so jarring how ready this man was to go toe to toe with me like I wasn’t about to burst into tears the entire time. I just wanted to enjoy a nice meal with my mother who I don’t see very often, as we don’t live near eachother anymore. I can’t believe the service I received from a place I held in such high regard. I’m sorry I took her there in the first place. Don’t come here for noodles unless you want to get yelled at when they serve them to you cold :P
