Scott's Kitchen and Catering at Hangar 29

We were traveling up to Alaska and wanted to try what Kansas City BBQ was all about. Well, we are glad we stopped here at Scott's. We didn't eat all day to enjoy the famous BBQ. We didn't want any corporate crap. We wanted the old school, local flavor that would say something about the local bbq style. Just so you know, we are from Eastern NC, which has its own right in their quest for outstanding bbq.
Well, Scott's is the place. The smoke, which they use hickory and peach,was not overpowering but was part of the wonderful flavor that accompanied the rub and sauce. We had a brisket, burnt ends, and ribs. What a great selection of items to give you the bbq flavor of Kansas City. The owner came out and talked to us, also went to all tables. That's a true chef to see his results. The sides are outstanding as well. Bbq baked beans are out of this crazy world.
Although our travels go to Alaska, we fly and miss opportunities like this. We are going to need to do this drive by bbq exploration agian to Scott's. We did ask for to go container, as for myself, I haven't eaten a lot of meat lately, Let's just say the old one. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. But it only lasted to South Dakota. Thanks to Scott's for providing this authentic bbq flavor. It's so so good!!

Food was really good, had the brisket sandwich and fully loaded mash potatoes, staff are very nice, they have a nice patio to eat out on.

Mouth watering, tasty barbecue is definitely on the menu. We had the 1-2 person sampler and it was plentiful. Great service and great atmosphere.

I ordered delivery so I can't tell you about the restaurant, but I can tell you not to skip the baked beans, they were legendary. The rest of the food was good too 🙂

This is the best Burnt Ends in KC in my opinion. The Ghost Pepper Sausage is awesome as well. Not much seating though

This place had some really tasty ribs. We tried the pulled pork tacos and they very spicy but delicious. It's next to the airport so if you have time definitely try it. They had a breakfast menu as well. We didn't get to try it but the biscuits and gravy looked really good. Plus, the smell of the smoked BBQ inside is amazing.

Wow. Just wow. Awesome food. Hard to stop eating the gumbo to get to the loaded burnt ends sandwich but I did my best and enjoyed everything from start to finish. Happy I stopped in before leaving town

We always stop here when we are around the airport. We didn’t know they did breakfast and stopped. The food is as delicious as ever. All of their food is excellent!

I ordered a burnt ends bowl and added spicy sausage to it. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely return.

Burnt ends were hunks of fat, potato salad had no flavor to it, and the cheesy potatoes tasted old. Beans and service were good. Very underwhelmed with the BBQ experience looking at all the positive reviews on this place. Dining room needs a good scrubbing as well, very dirty window ledges.

Exceptional BBQ by the airport with an airport theme. Not the ideal place for a white dress shirt, but perhaps the ideal place for BBQ regardless of attire.
