⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Where do I start?!
The atmosphere here is always warm and inviting—perfect for a chill night out with friends. The food was so incredible we had to send our compliments straight to the chef!

Do yourself a favor and order the mushrooms and Brussels sprouts—they’re unforgettable. My babe had the mac and cheese with meat, and let’s just say the bowl was spotless by the end.

The people are wonderful, the service is top-notch, and the prices are more than fair. This place nails the balance of great food, great vibes, and great company. Highly recommend!

During my stay in Kansas City, I booked a room at the Origin Hotel. I like the area of the hotel and was happy they had a restaurant inside for convenience . Before going I checked out the reviews and seen some pics online. The place looked nice but once I went inside the restaurant it was a different story. The place felt dingy and dirty. The service was really slow and the food and drinks were over priced. I paid $35.00 for some lamb tacos! Once it was all said and done, I left paying $70 for a meal one drink and tip and I still felt like I needed something else. I was hoping for a better experience but I’m one and done.

I tried making a reservation through Google, but I kept getting texts saying it wasn’t confirmed. I called the restaurant and got a voicemail saying you could reserve on OpenTable or leave a message. OpenTable didn’t show anything, and when I tried to leave a message, the mailbox was full.

We showed up at 6:30 hoping our reservation went through — turns out it didn’t matter. The place was completely empty. Two people at the bar, no music, one bartender. I told him I thought I had a reservation, and he said, “We don’t take reservations.” When I mentioned that Google allows them, he shrugged and said, “Yeah, that’s all wrong. Nothing online is correct — not even the menu. We don’t check voicemail because everything goes through corporate.”

We decided to stay, but the food was very disappointing. My “lobster roll” had almost no lobster, and the fried mushrooms were soggy. Overall, a completely forgettable experience. We won’t be back — and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

Show Pony is fantastic! They may be facing staffing issues as every other restaurant in Kansas City, but the staff they do have always have a smile on their face! Food is fantastic! Specifically the catfish sliders and lobster roll! Amazing!

Worst experience ever tons of people in there have a game going on and they got one person they’re working who can’t keep up with anybody doesn’t know how to make drinks. Total disaster.

Breakfast Review: If you are staying at the hotel, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to get breakfast. It seems convenient, but you’ll regret it. A group of 8 of us went and it was flat out terrible. 3 of our group ordered the pancakes and had to ask for extra syrup multiple times because they were so dry. Not a single person was satisfied with their meal. My husband and I paid $40+ and would’ve preferred a continental buffet over this “restaurant” breakfast. On top of everything the service was lacking. Definitely a staffing issue and not the servers fault. So many great places to eat while in KC, save your time and money.

My hat off to the chef. I ate here all four days of my trip to KC and was never disappointed. The sliders were slap your momma good. Victor behind the bar made my experience even more enjoyable and his ability to make any drink was impressive. Chef David showed his face in the dining room and was quick to shake your hand and have a quick conversation. I have never been treated as well at any restaurant that had such incredible food as well. Great job!

I decided to write a review because if you're at restaurant and watch people come in and wish you could tell them to cut their losses and leave, it's worth writing something up. I know Show Pony is on the newer side and still under a year old but I noticed other reviews mention the staffing levels. They're just plain understaffed still. No hostess to greet you, our server was just trying to keep up but in turn our experience suffered. No water refills, cocktails came late and check drop was the only time she made eye contact with both of us. The espresso martini was one of the worst I've had. It's like syrup it's so sweet and almost that thick.

The food was hit or miss. Sadly half the entree offerings were 86'd, so we settled. Fried chicken was a highlight. Pakoras were so raw they were not good, and the green goddess wedge was over powering. The dishes are good in theory but not executed well, only because I assume, they're also short staffed in the kitchen.

The last gripe, the menu in person did not reflect the one online and the prices for everything was higher. Please just update the online menu so diners know what to expect. But if you've read this far, I say just skip Show Pony until they reach a year or more open. They're inside a hotel, which is fortunate as they have a little bit of a captive audience to keep them going until they focus their attention on service. I plan on coming back to give them another try during brunch, but I won't be racing back anytime soon.

We came with a group on a Friday. The front of house was totally empty, it was freezing cold, and despite multiple requests to turn down the blasting AC, no change was made. The drinks were good but overpriced, and the black cod dish I got was just downright not good. There was charred broccolini that overtook even the flavor of the wine sauce, and the fish itself was chewy/overcooked and not very flavorful. Service took forever despite not many patrons being present when we arrived. This restaurant came highly recommended after one of our friends had been here for restaurant week, but I don't think I'll be coming back. For the price, you can find much better fare in Kansas City.

Show Pony is a standout dining experience nestled along the Berkley Riverfront with scenic views of the CPKC Stadium in the backdrop. The setting alone creates a memorable atmosphere, but it’s the food and drinks that truly shine.

We started with the burrata appetizer—fresh, creamy, and beautifully plated. From there, we tried a wide selection of entrées: the cod, ribeye, lamb shank tacos, and pork cheek. Each dish was excellently prepared and served with thoughtful, flavorful sides that complemented the main proteins perfectly. While we all had our favorites, mine was hands down the pork cheek—tender, rich, and absolutely delicious.

For dessert, we shared the carrot cake and the chocolate ganache. Both were indulgent and satisfying, providing the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

The cocktail menu was just as impressive as the food. Our favorite was the Gallant Fox—an espresso-based cocktail that was smooth, bold, and expertly balanced. It’s a must-try for coffee lovers.

The service was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience without ever feeling rushed. Whether you're visiting for a special occasion or just looking to enjoy a quality meal in a beautiful location, Show Pony delivers on every level.

Highly recommend this spot for its exceptional cuisine, and relaxed, upscale vibe. It’s one of Kansas City’s gems.

What a Miss… this was our second visit to this restaurant. First time being over restaurant week and while they were brand new and busy the experience was better than last night.

From the moment we walked in, it was clear things were off — the floor was sticky underfoot, which immediately made the place feel dirty and unkempt. Large tables in walkways and dirty dishes in the greeting area. The lighting was shockingly bright and harsh, more like a cafeteria than a restaurant trying to create any kind of dinner ambiance. Other than the beautiful bar area the rest of the restaurant is annoyingly bare and bland.

Despite there being only about five tables occupied, the service was painfully slow. It took forever to get our very overpriced drinks, even longer for the food, and trying to get anyone’s attention for basic things like refills felt impossible. We had to get up and go to the bar to get another $16 glass of wine. When the dishes finally arrived, the presentation was downright pathetic — slapped together carelessly, with no thought or pride. (Except for the Pork Cheek which was Exceptional and seemed like the only dish anyone cared about) It looked more like something thrown on a plate in a rush rather than something you’d expect when paying $55 for a plate?!

Sadly, this place is sliding in the wrong direction! Overall, an incredibly disappointing experience. I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend anything but the Pork Cheek to anyone.
