Great throw back to home cooked meal. House is a treasure. The fried chicken is truly homemade with great traditional breading!

First time in KC and heard about this place. Thought chicken was sub par. Needed more seasoning. Personally, we thought Pizza Ranch has better chicken. But what really made me frustrated was our waitress and how after we had ordered, she suggested we get the Split dinners instead. She never let us look at the description of it on the menu, but instead said that it'll allow 2 of us to each get our own salad or cup of soup, because 2 of us decided to split a 4 piece chicken dinner. Well, little did we know it cost us an extra $12. She never said it was an extra cost on top of the $22 chicken platter we ordered. So we paid an extra $12 just to get a salad and a cup of soup. We were so upset and complained to the manager, but he said we should be happy we got served ala carte. And all what we got ala carte was canned green beans and powdered, boxed mashed potatoes. Not happy at all. Finally, their cinnamon rolls are bland. Served warm, but just topped with cinnamon and were dry. No icing at all. Who serves cinnamon rolls without icing??? We will never be back. Totally rip off.

We have been visiting strouds for over 30 years. While staff has changed, the atmosphere and food have not. You know what you’re going to get (if you’ve been going), you typically have a great experience and the food is typically going to be great with plenty for leftovers! Years ago their shrimp was my go to. I haven’t had it for many years but it was so good. Then gizzards were my go to every single time. Sooo good with their gravy and cottage fries! Last night I tried their salmon for something different and was blown away! Do not sleep on this salmon! The dill sauce is delicious and the salmon was cooked to perfection! I do miss the cinnamon rolls from years ago, but they’re still yummy!

Chicken is not as good as it used to be,
the batter/seasoning is not as thick and chispy as it used to be.

Staff are not as accommodating as they used to be, meaning they may not cook your food exactly the way you want it, but only the way they're accustomed to cooking it.

Took nieces and nephews to supper before Christmas. Was a wonderful meal, excellent service, and we will definitely be back.

Everything here is always so delicious. Can't go wrong with pan fried! Don't sleep in the rolls either!

It's the best place in KC for fried chicken. Make sure to try their cinnamon rolls. They are amazing!

Update - It must have been addressed as they said, ordered last night and it went smoothly. I gave back three stars, because management was responsive. I get that it’s a busy time of the year, but customer service shouldn’t be all gone. Called Stroud’s for a to go order. Apparently they’re super busy tonight. The employee who answered the phone could have told us they weren’t taking any more orders tonight due to the crowd. We would have understood. Apparently, even though we have no way of seeing or knowing their situation, he smarted off with, yeah, you want that Monday or Tuesday night? We said no, tonight? He said sure, I’ll just put you on a seven minute hold and then take that order. Of course he never came back on the line. How much quicker it would have been for him, and especially for us, to be quickly informed they were too busy to take any new orders. This was at 4:30pm. This was unlike the standards Stroud’s employees used to show. I guess good help is hard enough to find that they’ll tolerate however the employees chose to behave. I’m not sure how much further ahead we could have planned a take out order, but Texas Roadhouse did just fine with our order shortly after. I’d prefer to buy local, but it just isn’t working out when this is how it is.
